South East England. Into genre evolution, H.G. Wells to H.G. Lewis, Hammer to Chainsaw. Giallo and Euro horror are my happy place. Incurable nostalgia junkie. 🇬🇧🏳️‍🌈

Stunning isn't it, it's by incredible French artist J. S. Rossbach...

Not sure where you're based but my Blu Ray from Amazon UK was reasonably priced. Either way my friend, I hope you enjoy it!

Just fantastic isn't it, the perfect showcase for everything Hammer did so well. Beautiful production design stunningly shot and Lee at his commanding best!

Honestly, try to track this down it's terrific. In the meantime you'll have a great time with House of Wax 😱

This is just wonderful, and the UK Blu Ray from Indicator is superb. Definitely worth a blind buy! Not seen Song at Midnight though...🤔

They were all X Certificate at the cinema here so it was late night TV for a generation of UK horror fans. Weekend double bills of cleavage and carnage! I grew up on Hammer, love Lugosi but it's Lee all the way for me too.

An excellent observation. The lovely Susan Farmer always goes without mention but she's great here, a quieter role but equally important to the film. 🖤

It's excellent, often regarded as one of Hammers best.

Great isn't it, so evocative. Terrific film too, well worth tracking down if you like vintage gothic. As good as anything from Universal at that time.

I really enjoyed La Llorona but for me this is a major step up. Totally unique with stunning imagery, its incredibly creepy. I think it at least equals it's US peers.

Can't argue with that. Frying tonight! 😱

Phantom of the Monastery. 1934. Three friends shelter from a terrible storm in a haunted monastery. Neglected Mexican classic, among the finest gothic chillers of the 30s.

Novice tech nerds welcome! 😆 I've been collecting film since the pre-VHS days of Super 8, so it's evolution has always fascinated me. For me you just can't beat holding a copy of your favourite films in your hands.

Visually quite breathtaking isn't it, I'd love to see it on the big screen too. Like you, happy with the Blu Ray, pretty sure that format will outlive me!

That's spectacular. And I love the fact that he's celebrated in your corner of Italy, you have my utter admiration! A terrific piece of art my friends 🖤

So many fine films used Black Park for locations. I've never been there myself but I've visited Bray where many Hammer classics were made.

Which leads nicely into the chat on bad decisions...😁

Wonderful isn't it, quintessential Hammer. First class in every aspect of production, it's a glorious looking film. But it's Barbara Shelley's transformation from frump to vamp that steals it for me. Quite breathtaking.

Honestly, it's one of my most vivid horror movie memories as a child. Watching this on late night TV I was terrified, but it was Shelley's character transformation that really stuck with me. For reasons I was probably too young to realise 😄
horrorposterguy1.bsky.social
I did, I collected them all avidly at the time. Wonderful publications, sadly something else lost over a lifetime of moves and bad decisions...
horrorposterguy1.bsky.social
Her transformation from frump to vamp is absolutely glorious....

I completely agree, a terrific film and in the absence of Cushing's Van Helsing, Andrew Keir's Father Sandor is a more than worthy opponent to Lee. Keir was a fine actor and his Sandor deserves a series of his own!

Christopher Lee returns for the fabulous third Hammer Dracula film. Classic dark gothic its beautifully shot with a rousing score and ravishing Shelley. 1966
