South East England. Into genre evolution, H.G. Wells to H.G. Lewis, Hammer to Chainsaw. Giallo and Euro horror are my happy place. Incurable nostalgia junkie. 🇬🇧🏳️‍🌈
I've always thought this surprisingly good, far better than it's reputation or title might suggest. And yes, the lovely Miss Lowry does indeed go awol with a poor chaps hand. Enjoy!

Then you're in for a treat, my friend. It's a terrific film with one of Cushing's finest performances.

Perhaps, or (more likely) perhaps my memory is playing tricks 😄

I think it was on E4 and I'm pretty sure I saw at least some of season two but now I'm questioning my sanity. Either way, cracking show...

That's the release I've got, love a bit of Shameless, and agreed - this is just brilliantly Fulci!🩸

Absolutely adorable.

I loved that show, thoroughly underrated. Thinking about it, not sure if I saw it's conclusion 🤔

Added this one to my collection recently, excellent stuff!

Same here. When I first watched it I really didn't expect much at all, but it was so much better than I thought! I've developed a real soft spot for it, had a great time revisiting it on Blu Ray.

I feel the same, my friend, so much happier here. I've made some great new virtual friends and was lucky enough to find old chums from the bad place, like your good self. Way more comfortable here 🖤

It is! Both the theatrical release and the directors cut are on the Blu Ray but not sure about streaming. It's a Grindhouse classic either way though! 😱

I'll keep my ear to the ground, see if I hear of anyone...
December 11, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Yep, both films undergoing title changes specifically for that release. 'Skin' was originally simply called 'Zombie' while the working title here was 'Phobia'...
December 11, 2025 at 5:14 PM
Just a relatively short time after the Manson murders, I don't think the director could've conceived a more disturbing vision than drug crazed satanic hippies with rabies! The Blu Ray features both the uncut theatrical version and the original Directors Cut, terrific nostalgia.

It's terrific isn't it, so atmospheric and Cushing is at the top of his game. Easily one of his finest performances. And its great to see Pleasence before his Loomis days!
December 11, 2025 at 4:50 PM
Great detective work, I'm really surprised it doesn't exist...
December 11, 2025 at 4:44 PM
Great stuff! Cushing, Pleasence and Billie Whitelaw with Hammer regular John Gilling at the helm. What's not to love? Hope you find and enjoy!
December 11, 2025 at 4:43 PM
In which case you're in for a rather ghoulish treat! It's a terrific film, I hope you enjoy it...😱
December 11, 2025 at 4:41 PM
I agree, far better than reputation or pedigree suggest. The directors cut is far harder, with an intensely grim ending that was removed as considered too shocking when it was released. Either way one of the best of its kind.
December 11, 2025 at 4:39 PM
I think it's one of the best of the Grindhouse era, if you like a low budget 70s aesthetic it's terrific. Not sure if the directors cut is available streaming, its longer and has a much harder, incredibly downbeat ending that was cut from its release, thought too shocking for 1971!
December 11, 2025 at 4:36 PM
Interesting, I've only heard him referred to as crabby and sometimes difficult to work with rather than a nasty bully. But either way I certainly don't think his work is tainted. This is terrific and his work for Hammer is arguably among their best.

Great stuff, hope you enjoy it!

I know how you feel, I think mine went out the door ahead of yours 😄
