I’m quite seriously concerned about the economic collapse that’ll come with the AI bubble popping, and I feel like this really illustrates why: so many headlines touting huge numbers and insane productivity for services there is absolutely no market for. Who wants 8,000 extra books a year?

Why? Who is this meant to be good for? Nobody wants your shit AI books, never mind 8,000 in a year. Just a terrible idea and a horrible road the publishing industry is heading down.

Also in my TBR but I have 3 mutuals on Storygraph that have read The Unbroken and rated it highly. I just finished Piranesi so may do The Unbroken next.

I don't own any Apple devices, but have subbed to their video streaming service. Every time I try to watch something on there from a PC they lock my account and force me to go through an unlock process.

I'd say that I feel somewhat differently about wild wolves in games. But I don't think there's ever been a time when being required to kill a dog in a game was anything but a bad experience.

While dogs have certainly been used in warfare, so their presence in this case is probably historically accurate, it just frankly doesn't feel good or righteous to me to kill dogs in games.

Yeah. I'm playing through Ghost of Tsushima right now, and sometimes the groups of enemy soldiers I am fighting will have dogs that assist in hunting me down. They will attack and I'm mostly forced to kill them.

It is a beautiful game though. Stunning in a way that's different than AC Shadows. I look forward to Yotei coming to PC sometime to see the improvements they've made.

The most notable difference on that front is that I'm not climbing towers to reveal anything. Instead I'm diving into menus to change clothes before and after encounters so I can reveal more of the map.

Been playing Ghost of Tsushima. I remember people talking up the whole follow the wind thing like it was super innovative and solved the map marker issue that AC games have. But in my experience so far it's still mostly chasing markers on the map until I'm close enough the marker in world.

Not even sure that it's quiet necessarily, just that everything is consumed by sharing / talking about the Horrors. I've had to start using the OnlyPosts feed again just get away from the constant stream of reposts.

Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't. If you're just trying to troll me, I've seen way worse, i'll restrict and move on. But please, if you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's NOT what he'd want.

To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough', just so other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening. You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else's throat hoping they'll give you a little thumbs up and like it.

And for the love of EVERY THING, stop calling it 'the future'. AI is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.

Since then things have only gotten more convoluted with a handful of US states getting in on the age verification requirements and the like. I haven't had a need to look up any kind of analysis on how that impacts small Fediverse instances.
