Atlanta’s youngest council member begins term with push for accessibility | Carden Wyckoff, CPWA | 28 comments
This week, I was sworn in as City of Atlanta’s youngest council member, and the honor is not lost on me. When I look at government, I haven’t always seen leaders who look like me… leaders who have physical disabilities. That is why this moment matters. I want young people, people with disabilities, and anyone who has ever felt overlooked to see me and think, “If she can be there, I can too.” Representation is not symbolic. It is powerful. It changes who feels welcome at the table, who gets heard, and whose needs are prioritized. As a disabled woman, stepping into this role is both personal and historic. Through the end of this year, I will focus on what I know matters most to our community: accessibility ♿️, transportation 🚇🚴🚌, and housing 🏡. But even more than policies, I want to help build a city that shows every person they belong here. I am grateful for this opportunity to serve, and I carry with me the voices of those who do not often see themselves represented in government. This is for all of us. Check out my interview with Fox5 https://lnkd.in/erCpnjDm #atlanta #cityofatlanta #government #politics | 28 comments on LinkedIn
