And now, Galactica 80…

After all these years, I've finally finished watching Battlestar Galactica. What a series it was. Bleak but it ended with hope.

What’s the going rate for audio drama royalties for writers?

Apple Books is just taking the fucking piss in its recommendations now. Although not as much as the publisher is…

Friday, this starts. Presumably with Killer, the pilot, which is a really very different tone to the main series.

No. Just no. Have you learned nothing from the fiery debacle?
Irn Bru’s new spiced ginger and cinnamon Christmas flavour.

Love that film. Exceptionally efficient storytelling. And caught that and Happiest Season in quick succession and realised I’d been doing KS dirty all these years dismissing her as that Twilight girl.

My Little PLAGUE DOCTOR!
It's Octoberrific fun!
A paper model of a plague doctor. He is dressed in black with a long-nosed white mask and a white satin ribbon on the end of a cocktail stick cane The same model but on a red background with some atmospheric fairy lights

Time to give this another signal boost.

Pop a few quid this way if you can, and let’s make this happen.

We're just under halfway with 19 days left. It's going to be a long shot, but who knows, maybe we can come close.

Pre-order Issue Four now. The closer we get, the more chance we have of making it happen.

Finally, the Holiday Special is no longer the worst Star Wars Christmas thing…
A Star Wars action figure of an R2 astromech droid in red and white and gold Christmas decoration, with a baby Grogu Christmas decorated figure and a large Santa beard to apply to the droid. It is every bit as tacky and shit as it sounds.

About half way through this and (a) a fantastic read and (b) makes me want to go live in a cave off grid.

Regal and Dunne. Peter seems to be a full time producer now - which is fantastic for his quality of life, but a big loss otherwise. Still, he’ll be at least as good as Regal I suspect in advising them about the UK.

Not been to an indie graps show (RevPro doesn’t count) since the pandemic. Tempted by a local lunchtime show tomorrow but the line-up is absolute peak undergraps stuff so haven’t quite decided if it’s worth giving up the pub for. Especially with the ‘family friendly’ tag.

It occurs to me that the Doctor's polyethnic identity in recent times recontextualises Peter Davison's casting in quite an interesting way.
(For context, although you'd be unlikely to guess it by looking at him, Davison's paternal family is Guyanese. He has close relatives who are visibly Black.)
Peter Davison, a fair-skinned blond man, as the fifth Doctor, circa 1982.

The clips of Hatton in the ‘E that came up after he passed were the perfect usage of a UK naw. Someone with a bit of international recognition, and who absolutely gets what their role is. (And who’s enough of a fan, even a closet one, to embrace it). Should have booked Craig Fairbrass…

Some of it’s definitely of its time, although I’m admittedly a big Propellerheads fan so the collab bits work for me perhaps better than for others. CR is the one I wish had gone in another direction - given how distinctive the theme was, a less Barry-esque score to match would have been interesting

The last push. Can we make it close enough to the line to make Issue Four happen?

Independent pop culture writing. From Biggles to Allee Willis, true crime to This Life, Meteopolis to the new Monday Night Wars.
