My favorite fact about Whale is that he painted and openly displayed a really beautiful nude self-portrait in his home. Whale was fabulously gay.

I know this is so reductive of me to say, but it's meant to be a general observation. I live in a city where the long-serving mayor is a Trumpian democrat. He's a total tyrant, and I think it's a product of his upbringing. Dad knows best. Folks want a benevolent tyrant for some reason.

I think the essential problem with masculinity in our culture is that it's too often associated with tyranny. Femininity, by contrast, is popularly associated with... democracy. It's the difference between being raised by a single dad or a single mom. Somehow, democracy is perceived as being weaker.

I have lost 55 pounds in one year. I am pleased with how successful this drug is, but I am on a higher dose at the moment and the GI side effects are KICKING MY ASS. If I so much as think of having a beer or a fried egg, I'll feel sick.

I was reflecting just the other day on how he and Charles Edwards absolutely CRUSHED their performances together. Their dynamic made season two for me. The particular way Charlie can alternate between Sauron's sanctimoniousness and maliciousness in a single scene is really incredible.

I recently discovered Foundation, and I think it's a magnificent program. I was pleasantly surprised by how impactful it was on me, but I cannot deny its impact was greatly attributed to the spectacular score composed by Bear McCreary.
