Maintenance: "you have to choose between a hot balcony or a hot apartment." Ah yes, luv 2 pay for a sizable part of my apartment I can't use for a good chunk of the year.

The AC unit is located in a nook that's covered on 5 out of 6 sides. We have jury-rigged a loose tarp that redirects the heat away from our balcony vs. having it blow back on it, basically rendering the balcony unusable if it's running on a hot day (more heated air -> unit, repeat forever)

AC broke last night (bad cap). Called the emergency maintenance line because it was over 80 degrees with unusual humidity for the area, so opening windows and doors helped minimally (only hit mid-high 70s early this am).

Sad news. My first undergrad research position was with George. He was a huge supporter of accessible science education.

He also introduced me to a very charming summer intern visiting from another university--my now-spouse.

If there's no transfer of custody or support for indigenous KSA weapons development, I think it would be difficult to argue it's violating the NPT. Pakistan also never signed, IIRC.

That's an interesting interpretation. I always think about the printing press in the context of literacy but I can see it as fast info xfer ala retweet, etc.
