Last year, I wrote a book about teaching musical concepts through popular music in the K–20 classrooms. If that is your kind of thing, you can purchase it as a downloadable here through the fabulous publisher F-Flat Books.

I was absolutely thinking of her. 💖

When she passed someone had written that she was the best songwriter in a band with Stevie Nicks and the best musician in a band with Lindsey Buckingham.

You all english speakers doesn't know the genius of JUAN GABRIEL. Feel sorry for all of you uwu.

XD

No. Seriously. He was the IDOL, here and wrote songs that are CLASSICS. There is no one who doesn't know who he is, in Mexico.

There was a video clip of Lamar’s 7th grade (I think?) English teacher being interviewed, and it lives in my brain rent-free.

I saw Baby In Her Placenta open for Skinny Puppy in '89. Kicked ass.

Now that connection I had not explored.

As they should!!!!!!!!!

If we can still give Sting his flowers for “Every Breath You Take” after 40 years then let Carly be a loving stalker.

LOL that song still makes me laugh.

“Harvest Festival” destroys me, though.

Holy schnikes, this post has been ratioed in the greatest of ways, thank you everyone so much (especially the Brazilian delegation!!) and I am going to get to work on a playlist.

Of note: there are artists I am way too fond of (like Neko Case) to put up as the greatest but y’all have great ideas!

I also need to know: I am fairly middle-of-the-road on Taylor Swift but someone I know called her the Greatest Living Lyricist. She is not.

Who is yours? Either the greatest or your favorite?

I don’t even listen to her much but she opened for Neko Case two years ago and JESUS she cut me to the quick.

You are not wrong!! Taylor deserves a lot of credit.

Liz Phair is huuuuuuuuuuuuuugely underrated.

Controversial take (and I love Chappell) but “Your Type” is what “Pink Pony Club” wishes it was!

She’s not bad, lots of folks pained her first album as a heavy pop Jenny Lewis (extremely complimentary).
