I’m sorry, this is the most ridicularious thing I’ve ever read. I assumed “twelve tide turns” was an Ozian way of saying YEARS, because… 🧵
At this point I’ve come to appreciate how the people who wrote the musical gave absolutely no thought to any kind of internal consistency. What tide? The sand tide?
My most generous estimate was always that there was maybe like a five year gap between act one and two but one year is crazy.

I’m seeing a lot of “Why didn’t Dorothy take the train?” discourse again and *correct me if I’m wrong* but I don’t think the high speed railway goes everywhere in Oz (and certainly not to the rural corners of Munchkinland) which is why the Yellow Brick Road was built in the first place, no?
