▶ Financial support is available but candidate countries have to ensure they have enough capacity to absorb the funds.

After returning to Chișinău, we talked about the outcome of the elections with Austrian Ambassador Stella Avallone and Dr. Brigitta Triebel from KAS Moldova .

▶ Europe must prepare societies for enlargement
▶ Gradual and/or sectoral integration might be a possibility but may also threaten to undermine EU accession
▶ The next MFF in 2028 should take into account the possibility that candidate countries may be ready to join the EU

(5/8)
idmvienna.bsky.social
Here are some of our conclusions:
▶ There needs to be more exchange of think tanks between the Western Balkans and Eastern Europe.
▶ The EU has to find a way to ensure that Member States do not hinder candidate countries’ accession by vetoing negotiations.

(4/8)
idmvienna.bsky.social
We discussed the immediate challenges of EU enlargement and instruments of pre-accession assistance as well as the role of Central Europe in supporting candidate countries.
