Assuming it's an E-Mail or other type of text interview I'd clinch it with a translator, but you'll have to think of something if it's supposed to be face-to-face

Ain't even horny on main, that's horny in an official capacity

I can't have this conversation right now

Good theory, but I think the movie was very well made and I had fun watching it

This is genuinely the most likely explanation to me. Someone not that into country music only knows Johnny Cash as the guy their dad really liked, therefore he starts out as uncool by default in their mind IG

Germans have been making jokes about the Bundeswehr being a wreck equipment-wise for years (Gorch fock most advanced ship of the Marine hur hur), so my bet is on the former

I think antisemitism is a movement that definitely still has a lot of influence over peoples thinking, I don't think that automatically means that all critiques of Israel are antisemitic, any less than I believe that critique of the German state is always founded in irrational hatred of my people.
iggythefoolishone.bsky.social
Obviously there are antisemites involved, and those need to be fought, but almost all of the messaging I see is about the specific actions of the IDF and the Israeli state against Palestinians, which is not antisemitic. I just don't think there is proof of this movement being primarily antisemitic

I don't think "the majority of people railing against the state of Israel and those Jewish organisations that choose to support Israel do so because they hate Jews" is a case that makes itself

American Evangelicalism has become extremely militant and right-wing over the past decades. I'm currently reading "Jesus and John Wayne", which explores this phenomena, but yes, it has definitely become its own bubble within Protestantism

With the repeated indications that the GOP is lousy with DL gay guys, I've had the thought that the double life HAS to be a fetish for a lot of them before as well

I like the deft argumentation of presenting your own stance in the debate and then introducing an argument that means that both of you are wrong
iggythefoolishone.bsky.social
If that is the concern (which I largely agree with), it still feels like the best option overall? If properly spun, a movement to reform police training certainly has more broad support than one to overturn the entire American justice system

It remains very funny that the person who started the vaccine-autism scare was the last person that wanted to get rid of vaccines, he just wanted to sell a new one

The discrediting of virtue ethics is going according to plan. Soon they will bow to their righteous kings, the utilitarians, and allow us to RULE THE TRI-STATE AREA

My father actually grew up in East Germany and completed his military service there, so I can actually give some input on this:

Fuck off tankie.

This is a technicality all right-wing messaging is based on. It's not black people or trans people, it's a nebulous cabal of corrupt assholes who happen to belong to the group they hate.

I assumed by "selected for participation" Persephone meant that you'd be drafted into the Walk, not that the government forces you to watch or attend the final stretch or whatever. The latter would be kinda silly, but I guess possible, the former would actively go against the themes of the thing
iggythefoolishone.bsky.social
Eh, it's actually kinda important to the point of the whole thing that you do have to "voluntarily" enter a lottery for it; it's just that everyone who's eligible does it because they feel it's their only shot at making it in life
iggythefoolishone.bsky.social
Oh yeah, even when its very best it's less "elevate the material" and more "spin gold from garbage".
The one other kinda neat thing about it is the complete buy-in into the character's worldview, but it just makes you even sadder because they could do something interesting with that and they don't

I think it says a lot about the story-telling priorities at play that the one unambiguously interesting choice the show makes is confirming that ghosts are real. Everything else is more-or-less competent slop

I will be watching it as soon as I get the opportunity, just so I can put it behind me. Me and that franchise have beef.
