I think antisemitism is a movement that definitely still has a lot of influence over peoples thinking, I don't think that automatically means that all critiques of Israel are antisemitic, any less than I believe that critique of the German state is always founded in irrational hatred of my people.

Obviously there are antisemites involved, and those need to be fought, but almost all of the messaging I see is about the specific actions of the IDF and the Israeli state against Palestinians, which is not antisemitic. I just don't think there is proof of this movement being primarily antisemitic

American Evangelicalism has become extremely militant and right-wing over the past decades. I'm currently reading "Jesus and John Wayne", which explores this phenomena, but yes, it has definitely become its own bubble within Protestantism

I assumed by "selected for participation" Persephone meant that you'd be drafted into the Walk, not that the government forces you to watch or attend the final stretch or whatever. The latter would be kinda silly, but I guess possible, the former would actively go against the themes of the thing

Eh, it's actually kinda important to the point of the whole thing that you do have to "voluntarily" enter a lottery for it; it's just that everyone who's eligible does it because they feel it's their only shot at making it in life

The one other kinda neat thing about it is the complete buy-in into the character's worldview, but it just makes you even sadder because they could do something interesting with that and they don't

I think it says a lot about the story-telling priorities at play that the one unambiguously interesting choice the show makes is confirming that ghosts are real. Everything else is more-or-less competent slop
