GERRYMANDERING UPDATE: North Carolina has added a Republican district. So has Missouri.

Texas, as you may have heard, has added five.
That's 7 new Republican seats in the House for the 2026 midterms.

Other states (Ohio, Virginia, Indiana, Illinois) are getting involved (Ohio may add two Republican districts). But California has the chance, tomorrow, to add FIVE new Democratic seats (to counterbalance Texas).

That's what's at stake with Prop 50.

I hear you and I am concerned about the too. My biggest takeaway from Klein's essay was the importance of listening to people again (which means agreement on some things, vast disagreement on others) and finding common ground to get things done.

An increasingly segmented society has exacerbated Americans’ pessimism, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.)…told Politico.

“We have a crisis of connection and meaning in this country, and Trump is a symptom, not the cause, of that crisis,” he said.

Dems say the American Dream is dead. A lot of Trump voters agree.

I read this, listened to it, then read it again. I very much hope that people are receptive to this message. I have not read a better case for what is needed to win elections again. I know that will take make conversations but this essay is an excellent place to start.
