They may be using ATS to screen applications before a human ever sees them. Something like 50% of qualified applicants are screened out by ATS because they don't have the right keywords on their resume. 2/2

Oh, also - if you're applying to any large companies/organizations, be sure to include the language from the job listing on your resume. Like, if they want "critical thinking skills" or "leadership experience," make sure to use those exact words. 1/2

Keep a master document that lists everything, but create a targeted resume for each position you apply for, matching the experiences you list to the particular skills they're looking for

You don't have to list every job you've ever had. Instead of doing the typical reverse-chronological "Experience" section, do a "Relevant Experience" section. That will allow you to list the jobs/skills you actually want to highlight and will help keep your resume to a reasonable length
