The fact that it overlaps with the main sports season (college football) makes this extra difficult.

For those of us who find horror films unpleasant, October is a terrible time to watch TV that has commercials.

I lived in Eastern Time for a lot of my life but I was in college, where time doesn’t matter.

Sports must be so brutal for people on Eastern Time.

There was a clear heir apparent and that process was unnecessarily drawn out by an egomaniacal TV producer

Had a nice conversation with the shift manager who did not realize it was the playoffs or an elimination game or overtime and honestly we all thought we’d all be out of here by now. We are in agreement.

I’m at a bar and grill in San Francisco that did last call ten minutes ago but now they’re saying there are too many people here to kick everyone out. Baseball is incredible.

I like how he tagged first base after catching the hit just in case it made a difference in any way

I mean they should officiate it better then. But it’s funny how no one can stop it when the Eagles run it but when anyone else runs it it’s an average-at-best play.

A lot of airport lounges aren’t really a luxury experience. It’s normal chairs and you’re crammed in there. The food and drinks are mid, but they’re free! (But some lounges let you pay for access.) It’s a funny conundrum. Sometimes it’s better to just go to the regular airport bar.

I’ve started checking that option on my Google flights searches. It’s a huge improvement!

Uhhhh, Colombia? That’s the wrong bridge.
Screenshot of the SF Port’s Instagram story sharing @colombiaembassyus’s post promoting their big sailboat’s appearance at San Francisco Fleet Week. In the background is the 25 de Abril Bridge in Lisbon, Portugal, which bears a strong resemblance to the Golden Gate Bridge but is in fact on a different continent.

Yeah I think most places in California use that pronunciation but the SF neighborhood decided to be different.

The original name is Portolá. The neighborhood in San Francisco goes by The PORD-uh-luh, which is somehow closer to the original Catalan than the port-OL-a pronunciation.

I hope you spared him from “San Rafael”

We can’t even agree how to pronounce Portola. (That one kinda makes sense though cause it’s a Catalan name.)

Half the place names in California are Spanish words that have been anglicized badly. Just pick one.

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

I dislike horror movies. Recently watched Jaws for the first time on a plane, and it’s old enough that it’s moved solidly from horror to camp. Fun movie!

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Might be a metaphor in there. Let’s not think about it too deeply.

Cal football’s prospects seem pretty bleak if they can’t even beat the worst people in the world.

Their respective trajectories since he and Brady parted ways really shows who the talent was in that relationship.
