I like cats and dogs and politics and cities and bikes.
I really hate how the search tab in apps has become the home page. This started with Instagram, but it’s most glaring for me right now with The Athletic. Total perversion of the magnifying glass icon.

I'm just doing baked mac and cheese. Normally I add a couple of eggs, but this year there are more kids than in the past, so I'm thinking of doing a sodium citrate thing so that the good cheese can have the texture of velveeta.
Let’s run this again, was fun last year, what new adversities are we about to create for ourselves on the field, drop your menus below

@nohaggerty.bsky.social's LA Times article about wildfire evacuation challenges reminded me how indispensable my e-bike was in the Palisades fire.

@rollovereasy.org good morning! I’d like to submit another endorsement for Ornot’s Mission Pants (and Mission Shorts). I’m not wearing them right now but I often do wear them as PJs. So comfy!

I would love to read an account of this saga that isn’t written in an atrociously purple way but seems like that’s too much to ask of anyone involved

Antisemitism is a lot like Qanon child abuse conspiracies in that there’s this real and bad phenomenon and, parallel to that, what can only be described as a large scale mass psychosis about a mostly fictional version of the same phenomenon

This seems very normal for a society that’s becoming wealthier over time. The problem is that we aren’t building these larger homes stacked on top of one another on a single plot of land.
some cities absolutely have true housing crises, no question. But Americans also keep wanting more and bigger & that’s a problem.

I grew up in the South and have made my adult life in San Francisco, and lemme tell you I’ve gotten real tired of the way Dunning-Kruger Californians talk down about the South
I understand why a lot of white liberals are like, fuck the south, because they think about the people in power who are mostly white conservatives. But that is only because of Jim Crow, voter suppression, a lack of real funding for Dems there

Hallmark movies have been lying to you
We need more homes. Real estate developers are in the business of building them. They do good important work.

People who think mass deportations are a housing affordability strategy have no place in the YIMBY movement.
A reminder, a person who claims to be a YIMBY but backs the deportation of people to "solve" the housing crisis is just a NIMBY.

Lots of buzz about the "affordability agenda," and how we get there.

Well, this is it. Housing and transport are most of the cost of living for most people. We can make it expensive, or we can make it affordable.

No car? No problem. Building apartments near public transit could help address the housing crisis

San Francisco has a moral responsibility to build enough housing that it can be an affordable refuge for all the queer kids of the world.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, has a great slogan for her campaign of street transformations there: “A city where you can let go of your child’s hand.”
As a parent of a small child, this is all I see now.
