just watched a dozen people ask microsoft copilot experts their most pressing questions and those questions were 90% “how do i turn it off?” and “when i turn it off, is it really off or is it spying on me?”

Once the data is in government hands and systems of surveillance are embedded in systems of labor and beyond, your supposed protections are nothing more than flimsy surmountable barriers. One terrorist attack and “emergency powers” are claimed. We just saw it used for protests.

I think diverting a flight costs more than $155 in fuel costs and passenger restitution, but I’m not an expert at capitalism

Federal regulations mandate that passengers in the exit row must be able to understand and obey flight crew instructions. Is it possible during the course of his argument, he gave indications that he would not listen to the crew?

I used to think this was tin foil hat stuff from the left, but then I lived in New Orleans for 16 years and learned how many "legal" ways there are to steal people's homes from them.

This South Side Weekly report on the Chicago building raid is well worth reading. Most striking to me are the indications of collusion between federal authorities and the building owner and management to effect a mass eviction at the blighted property. southsideweekly.com/federal-agen...

Many of these “illustrations” aren’t based on verified intelligence at all.

Our analysis of 43 official IDF videos found recycled 3D environments, spatial inaccuracies, and assets lifted from unrelated artists and institutions.

Back in federal judge Sara Ellis' courtroom in Chicago for a second day of discussion on a proposed restraining order to rein in federal immigration agents' violent behavior.

Debate began on this issue on Monday, and ended without the court entering a formal order.

@unraveledpress.com & other press have been threatened, shot with less-lethals and arrested while reporting on federal immigration activities in Chicagoland and on the resulting protests at Broadview.

I'm now at a hearing asking the federal court to rein ICE & co in. I'll let you know how it goes.
unraveledpress.com
Well, yeah, we're suing ICE.

This wasn't really a hard decision. As little faith as we have in institutions, we recognize the value of drawing visible lines in the sand. We drew ours personally a while ago, but better late than never.

May every protester be freed and may this occupation end.

New: Apple banned an app that simply archived videos of ICE abuses. Rather than other apps that record ICE official's real-time location, Eyes Up is to "preserve evidence until it can be used in court." Videos from TikTok etc. Every submission manually reviewed

Eyes Up's purpose is to "preserve evidence until it can be used in court." But it has been swept up in Apple's crackdown on ICE-spotting apps.

The thing I liked least about THE DARK KNIGHT is the Joker’s plan getting foiled b/c the ferry full of normal citizens actually agreed not to blow up the ferry full of convicts, but maybe we aren’t so uncivilized after all
kashhill.bsky.social
A guy in front of me lightly clapped but it wasn’t a plane wide thing. We are all morally outraged but it’s surprisingly calm on this plane. Maybe we are all just used to the world being an insane place
dancow.bsky.social
It’s nice that consumer airline travel is so safe that it genuinely doesn’t occur to some repliers why it’s a hazard to have a non-responsive passenger in the emergency exit row
kashhill.bsky.social
This is absolutely wild. I’m on a cross country flight. We are being diverted midway through to Denver. The reason? Some dude is sitting in the exit row who didn’t pay the $155 fee and he refuses to move back to his seat.

Hersh came to speak at my school and I was the one who got to pick him up from the airport during a freezing rain storm. Later he said riding with me was scarier than flying over wartime Vietnam

so he switched seats mid-flight i assume?
