The same people who insisted devout Catholic Joe Biden was leading a “war on Christianity” are now cheering Trump on as his armed goons assault clergymen.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

We’re in a moment now where it would be worth people taking three hours to watch The Phantom Meanace, particularly the scene where Jar Jar Binks asks “Yousa thinking yousa people gonna die? Gungans not giving up without a fight. Wesa warriors” The clarity of that brought down an empire

we showed the brutality of the anti-Black (and anti-ally) violence by police in 2020 (and before) yet we still got Trump for a second term and police violence has only worsened.

Well, yeah, we're suing ICE.

This wasn't really a hard decision. As little faith as we have in institutions, we recognize the value of drawing visible lines in the sand. We drew ours personally a while ago, but better late than never.

May every protester be freed and may this occupation end.

I recently reported on an ICE officer who was publicly reprimanded and “relieved of his duties” after shoving a woman to the ground in an NYC immigration court. Well, he’s back.

DHS did not respond to a request for comment.

How Local Librarians Keep AI Slop Off the Shelves
AI is being used to create nonsensical, sometimes dangerously inaccurate books. Local librarians are tasked with keeping these volumes out of their collections.

This Evanston Roundtable article is phenomenal. The pictures are wild, but also it reports the chaotoc attack on protesters, in which IL State troopers participated, was directly ordered by Noem herself and led by Bovino who called the "Free Speech Zone" for protesters a "Free Arrest Zone." Do read.

Refreshing to hear this true statement from someone in power. It’s the main key to understanding what’s going on.
Section of the article: “During his follow-up Q&A with reporters, Johnson said the “rightwing in this country wants a rematch of the Civil War.””

Waffling? Get real. The GOP owns the House, Senate, POTUS, SCOTUS, and DOJ. MATH. Tell the far left, the "purity" clowns, and those that stayed home that didn't vote. Tell those "Genocide Joe" and "Abandon Kamala" idiots. They doomed the Palestinians. All of them helped to elect a NAZI.

ISP gets in formation and a number of them march away from the intersection, toward the parking lot neighboring the ICE facility (it belongs to a business, not ICE's lot).

The crowd starts a rendition of The Imperial March.

It seems the agents have left the scene via back alleys leading away from Kedzie. Walking west from the initial scene there's a trail of people coughing, neighbors turning on hoses to let people rinse their eyes.

A local going by Jose says he was caught in gas an agent fired out a car window.
