wild to see the US referred to as "unstable" — not that it's inaccurate. it just really hits how much Trumpism has taken us backward so quickly.

the US has always been evil, but at least other countries saw us as *stable*
Three sources told Game File that word filtered through the company last July that management in Paris had stopped development of the game for two reasons: 1) online backlash that spring to the reveal of Yasuke, a historically-inspired Black samurai, as a protagonist in the company’s then-upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows; and 2) concern that the political climate in the United States was becoming increasingly tense. “Too political in a country too unstable, to make it short,” one source familiar with the game and its cancellation told Game File.

Hurting poor people in red states is not hurting just MAGA- this kind of smug analysis helps no one and is a huge reason why Democrats don’t win in the South.
Major racial and ethnic groups in Alabama also experience higher rates of poverty compared to poverty nationally. Among white residents, 11% live in poverty compared with 9% nationally. Among Black residents, one quarter live in poverty compared with 21% nationally. Among Latinx residents, one quarter live in poverty compared with 17% nationally, an 8-point variance.
