I was lucky enough to walk through some of the #JamesCookUniversity campus in Townsville, Queensland today. Many if the trees were planted by Eddie Mabo when he was a groundsman there. He did a beautiful job.

Thanks Aaron. It’s an important program and we were really pleased to be able to highlight it.

What is this thing circled in red? A mouse?

Sounds very interesting. I would like to read that.

Thank you! @librarydenj.bsky.social I will track her down.

Back in October I presented at a conference about the role of books, libraries and reading in mitigating the harm caused by prisons. I have now recorded part of that presentation and you can watch it here (12:40 minutes): youtu.be/wyrAJf_IJso?... #prisonlibraries #prisonreform #prisoneducation

This is the abstract from a funding application:

I have just started reading 'Tools for Conviviality' the other day. It is making me think about his topics differently. I am interested to see you incorporating his ideas into your teaching. Next I am going to go back to this one to look for links between them: www.readings.com.au/product/9781...
Who Gets to Be Smart: Privilege, Power and Knowledge
Bri Lee, best-selling and award-winning author of Eggshell Skull, asks Who gets to be smart? in this forensic and hard-hitting exploration of knowledge, power and privilege.

Wow! What a fantastic achievement. Congratulations!

Still here and working to build an active presence. Will not go back to Twitter out of principle. My feed is getting better now I am working on following more people. #academicsky

Can you imagine having one to two hours to do these suggested activities!

Ouch. I look forward to hearing the full story on the next episode.

How’s this for an opening sentence to a book: “During the next several years I intend to work on an epilogue to the Industrial Age“. Does anyone know this book? #academicreading

There is an established practice of using graphic novels to GROW literacy. A Google Scholar search will provide a list of supporting research. This book could help improve the media specialist's understanding: Novak, R.J. (2021) Teaching Graphic Novels in the Classroom. #schoollibrarians

This afternoon I am working on a presentation describing a research project I am leading that will explore the relationship between custodial staff education levels and the attitudes of these staff toward prisoner education. Ask me if you want to know more! #academicwriting

@thesiswhisperer.bsky.social Three things on your to do list? I’m curious. The three most urgent, three quickest to complete, three that have been on the list for longest? Something else? How do you choose? #onthereg

Ah! I did wonder. Thanks for clarifying.

What is an ‘Xriv?

Yes! Well, at least I think I do.

This is great. I love the way you are modeling what you want your students to do, and the way you have used technology to capture the exercise. Brilliant poem choice.

Looks like a cracking brekky.
