What ever possessed me to buy this book? I thought it would be inspiring! It turned out to be depressing. Sure, I've seen some of these places. And they were wonderful and worth seeing. But do I need a compendium like this?

Even if I had the time and money to take ten trips a year...

Went to the 2025 Los Angeles Printers Fair Sunday, at the International Printing Museum, Carson, CA. Such a treat to immerse myself in the work of so many talented print-makers and graphic artists. It was a return to the pre-computer world I used to work in, back in the day.

The idea that political dissent can only be the product of “paid protesters” or “outside agitators” has a long history. Here is the Mississippi columnist Tom Ethridge in June 1963 concerned that attendees at the upcoming March on Washington might be “whipped into a frenzy by skilled agitators.”

I've placed my cousin Henry's letters in chronological order so that I can trace his account, as reported to his family back home, of pilot training, which starts in a hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I found two letters in the earliest dated envelope: February 22, 1943.

I've finally scanned--and read--them all--169 letters written to and by my cousin Henry Marad throughout his training with the U.S. Army Air Forces between May 4 1943 and September 7 1944. Henry was killed in a flight training accident in mid-September, 1944. He was 21 years old.
