My family is not Christian but I love the teachings of Jesus. Love, compassion, selflessness and mercy… it’s simple honest and benevolent. As a flawed person, those are traits I pray to achieve. From the Asghar fam, We wish everyone a heartfelt and Merry Christmas. Peace, Happiness, & fulfillment
I do find it ironic that Congress is giving themselves a cost-of-living increase, but has continued to decrease Medicare reimbursement over the last 20 years
Physicians are great at undervaluing themselves….
They are even better at undervaluing other younger physicians
It’s a bit of a pervasive problem
A reminder…. We have a publicly funded healthcare system in the US administered by the government highly regulated US hospital systems and insurance companies that are ‘too big to Fail’ pseudogovernment entities….

And that is the problem….
It was really hard to decide between being an orthopedic surgeon or a dictator after medical school.. I chose orthopedic surgery, but I feel like I would’ve been a pretty good dictator.
I’ve always wondered how Boy George, Twisted Sister, David Bowie and the hairbands of the 80s would be received today…. With the manly men movement.
Not a fan of Elon, but the regulatory framework created by the government and ACA is heavily responsible for issues in healthcare.

But we are too busy demonizing bogeyman, to stop and understand the issues
Sometimes the combination of arrogance and ignorance is breathtaking. Yes, US health care has high admin costs; that's because it relies so much on private insurers. Govt-run health insurance has much lower overhead
I agree. It definitely needs to happen.
Anger and visibility.

The problem is our attention man is too short. I would suspect that they would try it again in some other form
Not lecturing just commenting,
Just like you….

Kind of the point of social media don’t you think?
Remember: turn signals blinkers are not a threat… They are simply an indication that I need to get into your lane for a particular reason like I am going to make a right turn.

We will agree to disagree.
I I don’t see any issues with morning loss of life…. And the pain that’s inflicted on his loved ones.

And simultaneously saying that the man and the company he oversaw was morally and ethically bankrupt
The death is tragic. The circumstances are even more so…

But this is very separate from the issues of healthcare in America.

We can meaningfully critical of issues while being respecting and mournful of the loss of life….
The pearl clutching is pissing me off. Stop expecting healthcare workers to have sympathy for a dude that has been profiting off of people who have been sick and dying for years. Is his death a tragedy? Yes. But don’t fucking lecture us about how we should feel about it either.
My team and I spend 2 to 3 weeks for the last several years performing medical mission work and treating children with complex spinal deformities, through the global spine outreach. On this giving Tuesday, I ask for your support.

My least favorite term in healthcare is value based care. It’s a nebulous and fraudulent term. It has been around since the implementation of ACA. It has yet to provide any significant value, nor has it improved patient outcomes. It has just consolidated healthcare and taken away a choice
That’s the frustrating part.
There are legitimate issues of regulatory overreach which could be addressed. Simple changes that would create huge impactful results.

Instead, we go after fluoride in water,
Tell Obese people to walk more, and create circumstances for more corporate consolidation.
There are legitimate concerns with government overreach in healthcare.
So the new administrations solution is to amplify it with corporate over reach….

All I ask is a fair opportunity compete with my colleagues.

What does that mean?
Price transparency
Site neutral payments
Rethinking stark
Medicare advantage for all…
Sounds like a great plan 😕
‘Vaunted’

The irrational exuberance by those soon health policy wonks is funny…
And the contortions taken to justify bad takes like Oz ‘s Medicare advantage for all
Not a trait that I am entirely proud of…
But I have magical ability to piss people off by stating the obvious
Two images of same person, two very different perspectives.

Perspective matters. Long scoliosis films should be standard of care

I am an early adopter & skeptic.
It makes for a weird struggle of learning, new techniques & technology, but being dubious of their impact.

I do enjoy being proven wrong in that setting. B/c it means there is a better option and since I took the time to learn it. I am well positioned to adopt it.
