I'd say Rory, Mike Bloomfield and Johnny Winter were the only white guitarists to legitimately devote their lives to "the blues"

Had a wonderful time last night at Pony Gold's Toronto album launch at The Burdock. Get High Road Reverie now via Neon Moon Records or wherever you find music.

A lot of us in Canada have known for a while that she's right-leaning. And on behalf of Canada, you guys can have her.

Well, I wish they would tour with Feist. I think people would be ready for that.

Loving the response so far to Pony Gold's new album High Road Reverie, out now on Neon Moon Records!
She launches it in #Toronto this Thurs Oct 9 at The Burdock. If you're an alt-country fan, I hope to see you there!

Rush was the only legacy band left that hasn't continued on in some form after big losses. I also don't begrudge Alex and Geddy for wanting to keep doing what they've done since they were teens.
I can picture them having a St. Hubbins/Smalls convo: "People should be envying us." "I envy us."

Until they changed their grooming rules, it was like cheering for the cops. But I'll probably always feel that way.

Remember, they gave U2's Songs Of Innocence five stars too. This is worse, but not by much

Yes, someone else released a record today, but here's one also out today actually worthy of AOTY consideration.

Johnny 99 (City & Colour's John Sponarski) shares another great single today, "Lay Down The Hammer," a classic country "road song" with plenty of twang and memorable lines.

Pony Gold's High Road Reverie is one of the best Canadian alt-country releases of the year. It's out Oct. 3 via Neon Moon Records, and big thanks to Americana Highways for giving it an early listen.

"Punk rock wasn’t just mohawks and leather jackets. It was a multi-faceted, anti-commercial resistance movement of young people. It was art, it was design, it was theater, and it was really driven by the music."

To my delight, Niela emailed me today! She is in her 90s, still active and creating art. I can't express how happy I am to know she is with us, and I hope the book will give her some credit she truly deserves. (3/3)

For those who have read the book, she was briefly in a relationship with Billy Roberts, the composer of "Hey Joe," and there's a strong case that he based it on her song "Baby Please Don't Go To Town." (2/3)

Niela Miller was of crucial importance to me as I was writing That Gun In Your Hand. But I'd lost touch with her for several years as I was finishing it. (1/3)

Totally agree. I understand it's a long season and they deserve to celebrate for the sake of team bonding, but I really wish they would held off on the champagne until they actually won something.
