We have leverage over Russia in that when we delay or signal doubt on Ukraine's cause, the Russians attack more and harder. In that sense, we are also participating in the killing of Ukrainians. www.thebulwark.com/p/mixed-sign...
Mixed Signals from Washington Cost Lives in Ukraine
Dithering, delaying, and doubting only invite Russian attacks.

Right now, our amazing service members with the California National Guard are helping power expanded food bank operations across the state.

California refuses to let the Trump government shutdown's halt to federal food assistance abandon Californians in need.

Houston, we’ve got some possible serious weather heading our way this weekend. Before the rain moves in, you can prepare by signing up for CenterPoint’s Power Alert Service and bookmarking their Outage Tracker (English and Spanish) at CenterPointEnergy.com.

Went to a prayer service tonight at St. Mary of the Lake, where they have cardboard cutouts throughout the church representing parishioners afraid to come to Mass because of ICE.
I hope you're right! Lotta haunting is in order!

I'm screaming, too...🤬💔
They acknowledged disappointment that this was going to happen & were just glad to have the opportunity to save stuff. I've read that many involved in the destruction had to sign NDAs, tho not sure if that includes the WHHA.
Another article mentioned a storage facility specifically for things for the Park Service? It's a thing. There are so many items that they can't all be displayed. I agree that the Administration lies. I don't know that the Historical Association did.

Trump didn’t get the funding from oligarchs to destroy our WH because he was trying to save taxpayer money. He knew that Congress was not going to fund it, & even making the ask would have given the public advance notice and led to hearings. He wanted to do it like a King would.

dear US friends, when a sitting president (re)builds the seat of government, it almost always means the president has no intention of leaving at the end of term. your African friends with decades of experience
The White House Historical Association told PBS that things inside of the East Wing were removed & put into storage; which means that this was kept a secret just long enough for the damage to be done to the structure.

Maybe he just really wanted to be First Lady--redecorating the White House, hosting lavish parties for dignitaries, and looking pretty on camera.

the point of the ballroom obvs has nothing to do with aesthetics. it's to create an architectural structure to honor the patronage networks that currently dominate US politics. previous WH venues hosted maybe a couple of hundred people; this hosts nearly 1,000 rich donors.

[Melissa forecast analysis, Friday 10/24]

The forecast is looking increasingly dire for Jamaica. Model guidance has increasingly clustered on a direct hit - Jamaica has only had close calls from five category 4 hurricanes on record - with catastrophic flooding a major concern.

The latest forecast from WPC calls for up to & over 2 feet (over 500mm) of rain in Jamaica, with higher amounts possible locally.

In addition to destructive winds near Melissa's core, this may very well rank as one of Jamaica's most destructive hurricanes.
