Cops were frequently getting caught planting drugs in 2017 because body cameras were new and many of them didn't understand how the technology worked.

When cops hit "record" it saved the 30 seconds from *before* they hit the button. Eventually, they figured it out.

NEW: A huge win for ICE in the 5th Circuit tonight clears the way for the agency to mass detain people facing (and fighting) deportation proceedings. District judges all over the country — including dozens of Trump appointees — had rejected this policy.

Metry and her husband of 4 years go to DHS to get their I-130 in motion. "Good news" a DHS employee told them, the form to start her naturalization was approved.

DHS employee asks the husband to follow him through a secure door. When it locks behind him, ICE detains his wife to deport her.
EXCLUSIVE: Terez Metry was 13 when her family fled to Tennessee from Egypt in 2011. Then, they left her behind. She only recently discovered she had an order of removal from 2011. But she was following the legal path to citizenship. On Monday, at a routine DHS meeting, Metry was detained.

in the elite circles of the US, racism is treated less as a matter of social stratification with direct implications for political stakes and more as a matter of moral etiquette. it is even more notable, then, that this administration can't constrain themselves to the meager associated standards

Ida B. Wells-Barnett and Jane Addams worked together. They differed on topic of lynching. Both condemned it but Addams considered it an excessive punishment. Like many other critics, Addams did not challenge the racist-sexist explanation for why lynchings were being carried out. Wells-Barnett did.
