Langebrugsteeg, Amsterdam in 1982 and today, cars removed for a bike and pedestrian only street
In 1982 it is a wide street with a central divide and car parking on both sides of it. Today it has wide footways and a bike lane in the middle of it

I will note that in today's Ōtepoti mayoral election the antivaxxer was outvoted by the vampire by almost 2 to 1

6) the same people who vote in this election every time clearly did so again this year and low turnout got them what they wanted.
7) 9 elected Act candidates is 9 too many
8) if the left don’t mobilise, next year is going to be a shitstorm
9) the whole local government system needs an overhaul:

Oh wow.

It is quite funny, eh! I was in a store this morning and it was just over 20 degrees, and they were already saying it’s so hot.

Yes, hoping those extra 10,000 votes will make a difference and we get 1 extra progressive councillor in there. 😬🤔

So,
given the Dunedin City electorate is about 97,000, and
given turnout at end of yesterday was about 32.5%, and
given there were about 10,000 votes received this morning, and
given in 2022 the turnout was 40%,
then that leaves me hopeful we have seen an increased turnout.

Not sure if Chambers is a progressive though. Yes he supports the hospital, but not sure he votes progressive on climate change, transport and housing etc.

Yep and most new ones seem to be on the centre right 🫣

Margin is a 100 votes!!! And they are still counting, so not final yet. 🫣

Sophie hopefully wins. Which I consider centre left. Been in the council for a long time.

Andrew Simms known from the car dealership. 😄 New to council but has done a massive PR campaign.

This is bad. 🙄

Well fuck - Selwyn has elected a majority of Council with links to VFF, Act, and Trump fans. Maybe put that on the no fly list for the next three years

What’s up with that!! 😆

Ōtepoti living up to it's reputation of not booking ahead for events, even when it comes to local body voting.
Because of getting 9400 voting ballots today (more specifically, this morning), no results until later

And has defeated New Zealand's longest serving Mayor, Wayne Guppy. 😱😍
