I was already convinced when I really looked at Denji and saw that what has shaped him and continues to form his own understanding of existence is not being controlled, experiencing conflict or death but rather— hunger.

I bet everything I have that public safety’s only instruction to him was to convey that they would kill Nayuta if he continued to transform. everything else was Yoshida trying to soften that blow or trying to carve out what little he could for himself.

The only real reason to burn the body was to prevent Denji from looking at it more closely, which doesn’t track with his behavior before this.

He did not need to burn the body for Denji to make the connection between him and Yoshida’s apparent death at all, if that’s what this was meant to do. He could’ve just verbally claimed it and Denji would’ve reacted in exactly the same way.

what gets me about this is that the last time Barem antagonized denji into making Pochita come out, he did so by letting Denji see his loved one’s corpse for as long as possible, even going so far as to drag out the viewing

Thing is these pages I assume are passed over by at least one other person who isn’t doing the layering and that’s such an obvious mistake I can’t believe multiple people missed it. I saw it as soon as I saw the page. It’s incredibly obvious.

what makes this worse is that Barem immediately swoops in to completely burn the body before we (or Denji) can see if there’s any blast damage to his body at all, a lack of it now being concealed by the burn damage.

so that points to it being an intentionally placed detail,

and it’s like— yes, of course I still mean what I said about artists being overworked, but would it have been an undoable effort to scribble a few lines of damage marks on his hands if they were intended to be there?
