The only real reason to burn the body was to prevent Denji from looking at it more closely, which doesn’t track with his behavior before this.
jeannesfangs.bsky.social
He did not need to burn the body for Denji to make the connection between him and Yoshida’s apparent death at all, if that’s what this was meant to do. He could’ve just verbally claimed it and Denji would’ve reacted in exactly the same way.
jeannesfangs.bsky.social
what gets me about this is that the last time Barem antagonized denji into making Pochita come out, he did so by letting Denji see his loved one’s corpse for as long as possible, even going so far as to drag out the viewing

That being said I think I might be mildly allergic to walnuts since non spicy food shouldn’t make your mouth and gums burn right

Thing is these pages I assume are passed over by at least one other person who isn’t doing the layering and that’s such an obvious mistake I can’t believe multiple people missed it. I saw it as soon as I saw the page. It’s incredibly obvious.
jeannesfangs.bsky.social
but again the mistakes that seemed to be as such have my faith shaken…!

what makes this worse is that Barem immediately swoops in to completely burn the body before we (or Denji) can see if there’s any blast damage to his body at all, a lack of it now being concealed by the burn damage.

so that points to it being an intentionally placed detail,
jeannesfangs.bsky.social
and it’s like— yes, of course I still mean what I said about artists being overworked, but would it have been an undoable effort to scribble a few lines of damage marks on his hands if they were intended to be there?
jeannesfangs.bsky.social
Second one driving me crazy because they were literally holding hands when the explosion went off and Denji’s arms/hands are obviously scuffed while Yoshida’s don’t have a scratch.
jeannesfangs.bsky.social
Yes of course I know the grueling drawing schedule mangaka are subject to, but please understand what I’m saying here isn’t “he needs to work harder” or saying the art is bad/rushed

the 2 worst examples for me rn

Is Yoshida phasing out of the chair b/c of an extremely obvious & frankly amateur mistake, or is there something off about him?

Does the lack of explosion damage to his clothes and skin mean anything or was it just an artist’s hand unconcerned with those details?
jeannesfangs.bsky.social
when the story has primed you with an entire part’s worth of tiny, seemingly meaningless details that are actually very significant down the line before this?
jeannesfangs.bsky.social
This one kinda broke my trust. Her mole was added in the volume release but like… can’t you forgive readers for noticing a missing character aspect on what’s supposed to be a definite confirmation of their death and thinking that might be significant
jeannesfangs.bsky.social
I think the one argument of the eternal fujimoto art discourse I’m willing to yield to is that the numerous errors have made it difficult and frustrating to tell if a specific panel being off in some way is an intentional detail worth noting or just an art mistake

I'm choosing to believe this is a reference to Yoshida. The alley where he kills Joey, and the rats he figured out were sentries for Makima.

I actually teared up at this. oooohhh i'm not ready
