That is an absolutely brutal way to lose a tournament quarterfinal for the #usynt. U-20s go from 1-1 to conceding an own goal off a throw-in, ,and then another goal on a long ball that is completely misplayed by the U.S. defense. Team has some talented players, but man.

By doing the little things well, the #usmnt rebounded from a halftime deficit to earn a 1-1 tie against Ecuador. It speaks to how the players are playing with the energy manager Mauricio Pochettino wants, and are becoming more comfortable with his tactical approach.

FT: #usmnt 1-1 Ecuador. Deserved result for the U.S., and could have gotten more. A real moment of quality saw the U.S. equalize through Balogun, and overall I thought the home side won more of those little battles that they were losing in the first half. They'll need those at the World Cup.

Goal #usmnt! The US had kicked it up a notch in the last and finally found a breakthrough. Weah with the steal to Tessmann, who found Tillman deep on the right, and his centering feed found Balogun to redirect in off the post. 1-1 now.

HT: #usmnt 0-1 Ecuador. US isn't playing poorly, but Ecuador making the little plays that matter on both sides of the ball, especially in transition; getting a leg in to deflect a pass or find a teammate on the run in attack. Balogun and Tillman looking dynamic. McKennie improved as half went on.
