I feel like these last few minutes for Auburn has been like a great market correction for that time they met Bobby Petrino behind an airplane hangar.

The ball is loose as he’s crossing the goal line. I have so declared.
jeffschultzatl.bsky.social
Also, who are the playmakers on this defense?. Obviously the offense has problems but I can’t remember watching another Georgia defense that seemingly had nobody who stood out consistently. Or ever.

This never-say-die/always coming back thing for Georgia the past couple seasons has been real. But it can also create a lack of urgency at the start of games. And ultimately it may doom it in some games. Perhaps this one.

Seth breaks out “knuckle-draggers.” Always a nice go-to.
sethemerson.bsky.social
Plays like that largely have been taken out of the game, thanks to trying to legislate them out, and contrary to what some knuckle-draggers claimed, the game seems to be doing fine anyway!

Going to the 15th. Debating whether I have time to go to the Waffle House and make it back before the game ends.

Nobody likes you. Speaking for the entire east coast.

Come on Tigers. I’m old and I need to go to sleep.
jeffschultzatl.bsky.social
Was he also on a pitch count?
jeffschultzatl.bsky.social
Blow that out your analytics.
jeffschultzatl.bsky.social
Bingo.

Have pitchers ready.

But Skubal at 100 pitches is better than the other options IMO.
jeffschultzatl.bsky.social
And here we go again: Skubal also out after 99 pitches … even though his 99th pitch was 101 mph for a third strike on his 13th strikeout in 6 innings. In a playoff-elimination game.

Dudes on TV. Stop saying “But Wilson was right.” Pitch counts. Recent trends. Blah blah blah. Paralysis by analysis. Another example of have how analytics and spreadsheets have infected the game and nobody just uses their heads anymore and looks at things logically.

Kirby is out but Skubal gonna throw 300 pitches tonight if this thing goes 20 innings .

This just gets better and better ...

“Initially, they thought people would flock to play for (Belichick) and take less money,” said a university source, “but they realized fast that that wasn’t the case.”

"One (agent) who took his client on a visit there said Lombardi told him, “We don’t fall in love (with players)” and, “gave me the sales pitch about why would you say no to Bill Belichick?”

Well, I think now we know why.

I never imagined the Charlie Weis era would be the lesser of two evils.

Great reporting here from @brucefeldmancfb.bsky.social @brendanmarks.bsky.social and @slmandel.bsky.social
What a mess.
No surprise (to everybody except blind boosters and others in Chapel Hill).

“It’s the arrogance of it all."

Bill Belichick pledged an NFL approach at North Carolina. It has proven to be a complete disaster. Here's @theathletic.com’s story on why UNC football has turned into such a dumpster fire:
