Really good column by Ian O’Connor of @theathletic.com - Harbaugh made it clear long ago he was always going to the Giants.

In his heart, John Harbaugh always knew he was meant to be a Giant
Harbaugh isn't concerned about the NFC East competition. He welcomes it. He is the first Giants coach who'll walk in with a Super Bowl ring.

The FBI carried out a disturbing raid on a WaPo reporter, but Jeff Bezos has absolutely nothing to say about it.

As one Postie told @nataliekorach.bsky.social, “If there is a moment to stand up for our journalistic values, this would be it.”

We're going to find out today just how much Harbaugh is intrigued by the Falcons' job. Because if he doesn't leave the building, he wasn't.
Through today, the Giants are the only team that can hire a coach. Today is the first "interview" but there have been countless conversations between Harbaugh and Giants brass. There is a chance he does not leave the building.
Former Ravens coach John Harbaugh is visiting the Giants today, sources tell me and Mike Garafolo. His first in-person visit and a good sign for NYG.

Steelers' fans were upset that the team kept hitting a wall in the playoffs. I get that. But did they ever consider Mike Tomlin might be the biggest reason they even made the playoffs? Good luck to the next guy trying to maintain Tomlin's level of excellence.
gold jacket soon whether he gets another job or calls it quits here. it is so fucking hard to be a competent to winning team every single season and he did it for 19 god damn seasons

big shoes to fill. theres no guarantee that what comes next is better

Not every division can be as stable as the NFC South.
AFC North head coaches:

Kevin Stefanski — Fired
John Harbaugh — Fired
Mike Tomlin — Stepping down

A new era.

What an offseason.
BREAKING: Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is stepping down after 19 seasons in Pittsburgh, per source.

He just notified the team in a meeting.

I wouldn't use the word "uneasy." I'd just point out the obvious: He has never done this before. Not even remotely close. But he's a smart and genuine person. That puts him ahead of many. In the end, he just has to hire good people.
is anyone feeling a little uneasy/think this matt ryan stuff is kinda fuckin ridiculous
January 13, 2026 at 6:42 PM
Rich McKay said the same thing as Matt Ryan. The difference is, I believe Matt Ryan. It was difficult for Arthur Blank to accept that McKay has been a big part of the problem for a long time.
Ryan has been careful to say, over and over again in different ways, that he's not going to interfere with the next head coach and general manager.

Falcons have been frequently criticized by handsome bloggers and reporters alike for the way Blank/McKay have subtly and not-so-subtly meddled

I AM optimistic about the Hawks. I think you misread that.
You’re not optimistic about the Hawks? I’m no Hawks fan (Falcons fan) but I am a big NBA fan. I think the Hawks have one of the best nucleus of talent to compete in the East right now. Would not be surprised to see them top 6 this year!
January 13, 2026 at 3:59 AM
Hawks? Yes.
Falcons? I’ll wait to see hires.
Braves? I dunno.

Yeah, hopefully my former employer hires a Braves’ writer soon.
@jeffschultzatl.bsky.social
1. Am I wrong to feel optimistic about the Braves, Hawks & Falcons right now?
2. I will miss the Braves beat writing (plus music & culture coverage) of your former colleague David O’Brien.

Onsi Saleh declined to speak on the specifics of the negotiations when asked why Trae did not net any future draft capital in the deal

The Falcons have interviewed John Harbaugh for their head coaching vacancy. Does that guarantee he will get/take the job? No. But given reports that he would only talk to a few teams, it's something.
