ARE THE SPURS BETTER WITHOUT WEMBY?

COMING UP!
After a game-winning block by Luke Kornet, the Spurs hold on for a 114-112 win in Orlando. San Antonio improves to 15-6, and 7-2 without Victor Wembanyama. Absolutely massive stretch.
Victor Wembanyama’s presence — 7-foot-infinity, arms long enough to box with God — is overwhelming. The challenge now facing the Spurs? Making sure his absence isn’t.

The Hawks had their worst offensive rating (95.8) of the season last night.
Locked On Hawks is live now to break down a rather ugly home loss to the Clippers.

- Jalen, Porzingis updates
- A sputtering (and shorthanded) offense
- DREB still an issue
- Asa Newell's shooting!
- much more

Quin Snyder on Asa Newell after Hawks-Clippers:

"He was prepared. I thought he was dialed in. He's playing the way we want him to play. He's taking open shots. He's trying to defend. He's on the boards. He continues to develop those habits. That's what you want to see."

The shorthanded Hawks got blasted at home by the Clippers, 115-92.

Atlanta was never able to create consistent/efficient offense without Young, Johnson, and Porzingis.

Also seemed like a team with some tired legs after a grueling travel schedule.

Locked On Hawks podcast coming later.

Hawks down 21 at the end of the third quarter.

Offense was notably better in Q3, but the defense caved in and allowed 39 points on 60% shooting.

Talked about it extensively today with
@jonesy2x4.bsky.social but Nickeil Alexander-Walker continues to be a revelation with his drives to the rim.

A lot of shots coming up short for the Hawks tonight.

(Not surprising given the situation)

I'll repeat something now that I said on the night of the deal:

The Porzingis trade made total sense even if you assumed he would only play half of the games, in part because they were able to shed the 3 (!) more seasons on Mann's contract in the process.
December 4, 2025 at 2:01 AM
Asa Newell's shooting continues to be (quite) encouraging.

41 points on 49 first-half possessions for the Hawks.

Looks a lot like a team missing its top 3 projected scorers from before the season started.
Hawks trail by 14 points at halftime after the Clippers closed the half on a 15-3 run.

Pretty gross offensively from Atlanta.

37.5% FG, 11 turnovers, and only 8 assists.

Good news? The Hawks are 6-14 from three.

Bad news? Everything else on offense
December 4, 2025 at 1:20 AM
15-5 overall run for the Hawks to reclaim the lead after a 3-point play from Dyson Daniels.
December 4, 2025 at 1:15 AM
Of note, Kristaps Porzingis is on the Hawks bench tonight.
December 4, 2025 at 1:07 AM
Hawks down 27-21 at the end of the first quarter.

The big issue was ball security with ATL committing 8 turnovers.

Also (predictably) losing the rebounding battle so far.

a raucous "where's chris paul?" chant has broken out in the 6th man section

Hawks in a tough spot early, they're already trailing 14-4 and we still have the 10-0 opponent run coming when they play the Krejci-Wallace-Kennard unit together.
December 4, 2025 at 12:48 AM
Dyson Daniels just picked up his 2nd foul in the first 5 minutes.

Quin Snyder is going to challenge the call and he does not appear happy about it.
December 4, 2025 at 12:50 AM
The Hawks scored first, but the Clippers scored the next 9 points to prompt an Atlanta timeout.

Hawks have a couple of turnovers and a (very) errant layup attempt from Gueye.
December 4, 2025 at 12:43 AM
PSA: The Hawks are still FAVORED to win tonight's game.

(I'm seeing a lot of people saying it would be surprising if they would win and that is... not what the market thinks)
