Welcome to "Nose is a little drippy" bike season.

Just cold enough to fire up the nose faucet, not cold enough to kill the allergens. But you all look great in those sweaters and leaf stompin boots. 💙🚲💛

I didn’t subscribe this year (too many jukebox musicals!). I wouldn’t pay full price but sounds like the choreo might make it worth entering lucky seat lottery when MJ heads my way next month.

Omg I forgot this song existed! A classic of the genre for sure.

Yes, before had kids. I feel like kids plus the explosion of social media and internet content in general both contributed to my decline in reading.

When I went to Hawaii in 2023 I read 10 books. I probably haven’t read 10 total since then.

I basically only read on planes and vacations these days, and I don’t spent much time doing either of those things. 😂 I have some long flights in November though and am queuing up the EPL e-book holds in preparation.

BNL started out much more comedic! I was in grade 9 when their album Gordon (containing the song “Grade 9”) was popular so it has a special place in my heart. 😂

They have toured Alberta a few times recently but weirdly always at theatres in more rural areas (45+ minute drive from Edmonton) so I haven’t seen them live in decades.

Do you have extended health benefits? It’s seeming like pharmacies here in Edmonton have it now for $135-$150, and can direct bill your benefits. Sadly, pediatric doses are only available through public health so I’ll be on the phone first thing October 20 to book my youngest.

Anyhow, i felt compelled to take over from the algorithm and follow up those two bangers with “Carrot Juice is Murder” and “Ontario Sucks.” What are some other great 90s comedic gems?

Our kitchen Google hub just served up Last Saskatchewan Pirate followed by Istanbul (Not Constantinople) and we got to wondering what ever happened to the genre of comedic pop/folk. Bands like The Arrogant Worms and TMBG got radio play back in the heyday of my youth! It doesn’t seem as prevalent now

I broke down and bought Wicked merch. The added appeal of 80s nostalgia was just too much to resist.
This is a product photo for the Wicked x Care Bears 2-Pack collectible set. It shows two Care Bears dressed as the main characters from the musical Wicked.

Good Luck Bear is dressed as Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) wearing a black cape and pointed black hat.

Love-a-Lot Bear is dressed as Glinda (the Good Witch) in a sparkling crown and shiny pink skirt.

If the strike isn't over in early November (or even if it is) I would be into coordinating a group order with some Edmonton friends. I bet @alisonborealis.bsky.social would be in and I'm sure we can find more folks who want to do some holiday shopping.
jkparker.bsky.social
You're probably right. There are some lower cost local markets but most are a big investment and then you'd have to pay for travel too. When the strike ends I'll buy more things myself and share all over social media. :)

If you need suggestions for Edmonton markets I have several.

@thewaroncars.bsky.social I just saw the e-mail about the pre-order bonuses. Does this apply to non-American folks too? All of the pre-order options on the website are US retailers. I assume I can pre-order from my local bookstore here in Canada and just indicate that on the form?

You can’t CTRL-F a video to quickly find the relevant info! Articles FTW.

They are only taking bookings right now for those with qualifying conditions (Phase 1). And the vaccine is free for those folks. The list of conditions is quite broad so it's worth checking if you qualify.
jkparker.bsky.social
I called my local Shoppers and they were fairly certain they'd be able to order and administer covid vaccines (for a cost) after October 20th.
jkparker.bsky.social
The booking page has this: "COVID-19 vaccines may be available at pharmacies at a cost. Contact your pharmacy for availability, to learn the cost, and how to book."
jkparker.bsky.social
I have heard AHS are going to bill people after the fact. It also sounds like pharmacies are back on the table based on communications posted today.

Omg those look amazing. I have a couple pair of Anne Mulaire fleece leggings and live in them all winter. It’s not quite cold enough in Edmonton yet to break them out, but any day now…
