All this to say, I really believe Sodor should embrace how diverse the Real World is, because the Real World certainly doesn't want to.

Sodor is not a place that should be more like the real world. It is an ideal. An escape from the trauma and struggles we see around us.

We should leave this film wanting the Real World to be more like Sodor, and wanting to be better so we can make that happen.

This key tenet is honestly why I fundamentally believe now is arguably the most important time for something to be done with Thomas & Sodor in ages. The world is so bleak right now. What better way to contrast that with a world that spits in the face of it?

California just banned employers from forcing workers to pay a debt, fee, or penalty to leave their job.

Bosses have increasingly been trapping workers with debts incurred in training and other exploitative fees.

Now that's illegal in the nation's biggest state.

Remember when Stephen Miller claimed the Chicago apartment raid was on a building “filled with Tren de Aragua terrorists”?

Well, DHS has now dropped the number of alleged TdA members arrested in the building from 2 to 1.

Just one "verified" Tren de Aragua member and one U.S. citizen with an active warrant were among the 37, DHS said, without saying how it had verified that gang affiliation. Others taken that day, the agency said, were "illegal aliens."

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

I think the leak of the incredibly racist young republican group chat only furthers the argument that millennials were the only generation able to use the computer without going insane, mostly because the computer was once a place separate from the real world. but now the real world is also computer
