I had the huge pleasure to speak with the cast of "Shoresy" recently to talk about hockey, their own histories in hockey, getting back into arenas with the Shoresy Classic and what the beauty of being beauties on one of the best shows on TV is like

How "Shoresy" Has Reset the Tone with an Inside Look at Hockey Culture
Hockey in pop culture is kind of a rare thing.

A furious flurry from the Marlies with the goalie pulled in the final couple minutes, but the Amerks hold it down for a season-opening 4-3 win at home. Spicy ending, but a win is the thing

Amerks kill it off although the Marlies had a couple of good looks. Levi with a slick stop or two

Radim Mrtka is picking up a penalty after he dropped Landon Sim like a sack of hammers after the whistle in front of the Amerks net. There's 5:35 to go in the third with the Amerks up 4-3

Cade Webber snowed Devon Levi and drew a crowd. Feisty fun night in Rochester!

This game played with some playoff-ish heat to it. Scrums and rough stuff after whistles around the goals. Guys eager to give opponents a what-for

Benning gets two for boarding and then five for fighting Brendan Warren who came in to play sheriff.

Tyler Kopff got smoked into the glass from behind by Matt Benning and there's no faster way to get a fight started in the AHL than doing that.

Kopff got up and checked his face/mouth for damage and was met by the Amerks trainer on the ice headed to the bench

Borya Valis cashes in on a loose puck again with a heap of traffic around Levi to cut it to 4-3 with just over 14 minutes left in the third. He did not ask the fans to keep it quiet this time

Logan Shaw cleans up a loose puck in front to get the Marlies back to within two at 4-2 late in the second. Local guy Matthew Barbolini gets the primary helper on the goal

Brendan Warren sprung on a breakaway after Jack Rathbone delivered a heavy hit in the defensive zone - top corner to make it 4-1

Borya Valis taps in a rebound past Devon Levi to cut the Amerks lead to 3-1 and he celebrates by telling the crowd to shhhh

To his credit, the fans were already quiet

Love to see the jerseys of legends in the crowd

Tyler Kopff on a sudden 2-on-1 rips one low and in to make it 3-0 -- Kopff's first pro goal after he signed out of Western Michigan last year

it's really embarrassing

Buddy's Pizza will make that happen

Another Marlies penalty early in the second period turns into another Isak Rosén power play goal as he wires one up high past Akhtyamov.

And now another hit that gets a crowd reaction and another scuffle along the boards with a mild yard sale
joeyerdon.bsky.social
it was the end of his career and he played like it had been over for years that season
joeyerdon.bsky.social
On the power play, Isak Rosén hammers a one-timer past Artur Akhtyamov to put Rochester up 1-0 late in the first. For how much Rosén didn't do much during the preseason, he's been on it tonight
joeyerdon.bsky.social
Trevor Kuntar dropped a massive hit that sparked an immediate fight with Logan Shaw that got Shaw an extra two for roughing. Somehow not an instigator penalty. Marlies Michael Pezzetta was jawing at Kuntar as he headed to the room and Kuntar gestured to him. Something for later.

Noah Östlund has had a couple of the best looks for the Amerks in this one early on including a shot flush off the post. He's been active in the o-zone and when he's had a look, he's taken it. It's appreciated

With this being the start of the Amerks' 70th season, the playlist in house tonight has been all about hits from the 1950s and you know what? I'm about it

The biggest round of cheers tonight, outside of play-by-play legend Don Stephens, belonged to Devon Levi - fans here LOVE him and for good reason

If anyone outbids the current high bidder for Jack Rathbone's game jersey tonight, may they never know peace
