Archaeology, banjos, Taitokerau, preschoolers and teens, lack of executive function, second chances, mental exhaustion, well-toasted bread, banjos. Not the real-life Indiana Jones, more a dwarfish sort of Evelyn O'Connell

Hi to new followers. I am Jono, a 48 year old consultant archaeologist/para-historian in Taitokerau, northern Aotearoa-New Zealand. Once divorced father of three boys 17, 13, 4, partner to Dr Marine Biologist who is now retraining in MRI. Owns four banjos. Lives by the beach. Grumpy old socialist.
My overtired preschooler pees on the floor, the first acxident in almost a year out of diapers.

"DADDA! It's off the record!!!"
Eight.

Eight goddamned lids.

In the plastics cupboard.

And no matching goddamned containers.
Probably should have asked one of archaeologists just over the road to do an assessment. Le sigh.

There is a well under the Baptist Tabernacle too, which is of a similar vintage.

You are right cnut, you have no fucking idea...maybe a cuppa and a lie down for you.
As for south of Hamilton work, Warkworth to Kaiwaka (the Brynderwyns bypass will not happen in my lifetime) is all about opening up the Wayby Valley-Mangawhai-Kaiwaka triangle for development. And who has their fingers in lots of pies therein? Jepson, Larsen, and their Mangawhai Mafia mates.
Wots the opposite of "Mana- enhancing"?
Motorway to Te Hana by 2040 maybe but that's still the Auckland Region.

Fucking rubes up here buying anything NACTFIRST tries to sell them.
Hardy fucken har har har Northland. No Brynderwyn motorway in that lot.
I lived on a wildlife refuge island for 3.5 years and these little guys ate through the cable between my wireless dish and the ranger station.

Red in tooth and claw, amiright?

left school pregnant at 16, had my two sisters by 17. Divorced at 21. Married my dad at 29 and became a stepmum to five teens and young adults grieving the death of their mum. Had me. Homemaker/home missionary for 18 years while raising me, then retrained as ECE teacher in her 60s after dad died.
Love seeing my 78 year old mum's safari photos on the family chat from her third trip to Tanzania as she merrily spends me and my six siblings' inheritance.

Anyway, here are her new wildebesties.

...I am just being a whiny bizzich, shes earned her fun.
Being a professional Rememberer is the the worst position because it's just the same shit over and over and over for decades and people just forget/don't care/don't pay attention.
This is just really sad to see. My dad was the hostel manager in the mid-60s-early 70s under Hiwi Tauroa, and it was by all reports a great institution under his leadership. Both my older brothers went there and older brother has only just moved out of Paerata after a lifetime there.
Auckland school to close boarding hostels amid ‘ongoing concerns’ over student safety
The closure comes in the wake of bullying allegations at the school in recent years.

Was just in the shower thinking about what Bartcop would think about *gestures wildly at all this nonsense*, and his love for Shirley and Garbage.
“Average musician makes $12 a month on Spotify. The fact that they are not even able to sell a record and it’s taken from them by rich motherfuckers on streaming platforms who get paid royally by record labels,Ticketmaster, merch companies. They’re all fucking getting paid, except for the musician.”
Garbage’s Shirley Manson Speaks Out Against Music Industry Economics: “This Is An Alarm Call”
Just before they kicked off their current run of dates, the ’90s alt-rock greats Garbage announced that it would be their final North American headline tour. When the band played at Denver’s Mission B...
