Your usual reminder that the Southern Baptist Convention, from which the Evangelical Movement sprang, was founded explicitly to uphold slavery. The northern Baptists were increasingly abolitionists, so the southern Baptists split off. This ain't rocket science, just history.

3: Logically, both in and outside of Bessent's context, the statement "no kings means no paychecks" is incorrect and therefore false. It's just an outright blatant lie.

2: In the late 18th century in this country, this is something that would have gotten someone in a position of power tarred and feathered for for saying-- IF they were LUCKY. That's WHY it's treasonous today.

What D’Angelo said Black Messiah means. It came out at the end of 2014 and it was so needed.

Article (Nolan Feeney; TIME) excerpt reads: “Black Messiah is a hell of a name for an album. It can be misunderstood. Many will think it's about religion. The thing that gets me about actors responding like this whenever they’re asking about JKR is that they always say “we need to learn to agree to disagree ^_^” as if trans people are the ones leading the campaign, when we’re just trying to live our lives while JKR posts about trans hate 24/7

Just got a call from a lovely but very nervous Dr, who advised I wouldn't be routinely screened for breast cancer because I'm not indicated as being "biologically female" on the central NHS database and my biology wouldn't indicate I'm at risk.

My records have been altered, which is upsetting.

It's not "free speech" to demand an unchallenged platform for your ideas. It's free speech to ALLOW them to be challenged. And if someone comes around proclaiming hateful points of view, nobody is required to put up with that no matter what anyone else says. It's the paradox of tolerance.

Additionally, in the liberal arts, the person sharing those differing opinions are EXPECTEDLY going to receive a challenging reaction TO them, whether that reaction comes in the classroom setting or not. I've been in such situations, in and outside the classroom, as a student and as a speaker.

Look, I'm a proponent of the liberal arts. One of the key tenets of that education is that students may encounter opinions that challenge their own. But that's just to expose students to the world around them, not to start endless debates or demand respect FOR those opinions. THIS is not THAT.

Not once have I seen an explanation for why teenagers must hear things that upset them in virtue of the unspecified speech-acts being upsetting, nor have I ever seen an explanation for why teenagers will be forbidden to express displeasure with upsetting things.

Exactly. And that's just the thing: if he has the proof, there shouldn't be any issue with making at least SOME of it public. It's not going to harm him if it's true, at least not legally. But if he doesn't have the proof, even if he's correct, he simply shouldn't have said anything at all.
