Revisiting Nightmare on Elm Street, discovered a fantastic sci-fi flick, and went to Gabby's Dollhouse with my daughter.

Dem politician does it: Dems demand resignation, media rages, Reps use it to discredit entire Dem party and values. He apologizes, resigns.

Rep: Denies in the face of all evidence. Media sells skepticism. Finally admits it, proudly. Runs for president. Supporters wear pilgrim hats.
… I am the son and the heir
Of a space king who is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir
Of a guy so peculiar
… You, shut your mouth, how can you say
I rolled up these things the wrong way?
I'm just tiny and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does
2) Bags of chips/pretzels/whatnot used to open by gripping both sides and pulling the bag apart at the top. Now they have a little notch you use to RIP THE BAG OPEN VERTICALLY, making it useless as a bag.
Let's take a break from the catastrophic world around and tell me your minor annoyances about modern life:
1) Those ads that pop up right after a purchase on Fandango, Amazon, Ticketmaster, Etc. No I don't want a free trial of HelloFresh! No I don't want online lottery tickets! Fuck off!
I've noticed a lot of indie horror now takes place in anachronism world, where it's the 2020s but everyone drives big square cars, lives in 80s-decorated homes, and have cell phones but rarely use them. Like they want the 80s feel without having to do a period piece.
It feels like a lost @stephenking.bsky.social movie - creepy and retro and charming and great.
Rewatching the Nightmare on Elm Street series, and man is the original unassailable. Deep themes, unnerving visuals, Heather Motherfuckin' Langenkamp... Robert Motherfuckin' England... practically perfect in every way.
It's also wild that Villeneuve got another at-bat with a big franchise - but with him there's prestige.
Top three films to watch around Halloween:
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Trick 'r Treat
Nightmare Before Christmas (also watched at Christmas, as is just and right)
Top three films to watch around Halloween? 🎃
Like, imagine a woman or a PoC getting to fail as a leading actor over and over again like this. When was his last hit? Bladerunner 2049 I guess, but that also had Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling. Dallas Buyers Club? That was 12 years ago.
I'd say the giant parties Kingdom of Loathing folks threw in the late 00s-early 10s. Lots of naked nerds and light drug use.
We had it for a couple amazing months in 2024. Walz frames Democratic policies as they should be framed: Common-sense, traditional values applied to our neighbors and communities. Before the DNC stepped in and forced them to cozy up to Republicans, we had it.
The secret to Democratic success will be a Democratic leadership that’s not embarrassed to be Democrats.
Post a remake you love…
Y'all need to stop asking if the servers are still down and start asking if you're down to serve the king of kings.
I'll always take a reminder of Werewolf, one of MST3k's finest hours. Crow's "GoodBYEEEE, Joe!" is pure perfection.
I still have scars from Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. The bank robbing couple get away and are about to cross the county line and get SMEARED by a train from out of nowhere. That was 80s ten-year-old me getting bitchslapped by 70s nihilism.
Nitewrithes (Nitewrites) checking in.
But which is the Linnel and which is the Flansburgh?
The only way to have a perfectly behaved child is to be violently authoritarian and terrify them. Even so they'll still fail sometimes and then you'll have to be even more violent.

The only downside is you become a monster raising a kid who will 100% hate you and need extensive therapy.
Oo, Patrick Stewart in Donnie Darko and Swayze in Green Room.
I want to hear Stewart intone "NOBODY PUTS BABY IN A CORNER!" And I'd like to see Swayze as Professor X.
I hope that’s someone’s roller derby name.
Heh, I went to Lady Madonna and it almost works.
Wow, that's a weird way to reference Ansari. At best he was selfish and indifferent about consent, based on what he was accused of and what he admitted. I don't see that as unfair targeting.
