My guilty pleasure is to listen to this insane 2.5hr documentary about the cities of Ur and Uruk once a year.

It gives such a perfect encapsulation of the impassable rift of deep time between modern and ancient humans

I wonder if that will open the door to the more radio-drama-esque renditions with sound effects and music with the evolving medium, I was just listening to a writing excuses episode about the fuzzy boundary between them all and whether things are shifting or a few companies are innovating

When #AmWriting I lean into the 80/20 rule. Give enough description that 80% of above-average readers will follow everything.

And occasionally, dip your toes into the inverse 20/80, and make them figure it out.

Annoyed that my total social media use for the day was: 15min on bluesky + 8min on Instagram, TOTAL and I still don’t have enough time in the day to finish the things I set out to do. It’s UNFAIR

I know and so much advice is characters first! I’ve had agents tell me my work feels characters driven with deep character work so I don’t feel like my approach is an issue, and I save time! No one is extraneous, everyone serves a role in the plot!

Oh I love this question!
I come from a concept/theme side, so I’m always building the world first and then crafting characters that exemplify the values I want to put at odds. Nuance comes in revisions, but my themes are always strong.
