No permanent clock is favored yet in this bill, though thankfully the sponsor is in contact with the Canadian Sleep Research Consortium. Please tell your MPs to listen to sleep doctors and support permanent Standard (and not support permanent DST).

Night owls want to wake later (after sunrise), not earlier (before sunrise). Standard Time permits the former; DST forces the latter.

We experience temporary jet lag when we travel. We experience permanent jet lag when we observe DST.

Standard Time is a standardization of solar time. DST was instituted to force earlier waking and boost shopping (at the expense of health).

You have it backward. DST is for morning people. Standard Time is for most people.

🚨 Congressman @tomsuozzi.bsky.social (D-NY) now sponsors permanent Daylight Saving Time “Sunshine Protection”. Would put NY sunrise past 8am for 3 months, as late as 8:45am. 👉 Permanent Standard Time is needed instead. Tell your congress members to file the draft legislation on our website!

Ireland’s Standard Time is the same as the UK’s: Greenwich Mean Time. I presume that Ireland named their DST “Irish Standard Time” instead of using the same name as the UK in order to avoid invoking the B-word in “British Summer Time”.
