Today, it was time to reflect on intercultural care; sometimes, we are so engaged with the idea of mediating with the culture of the patient, while the caregiver seems overshadowed. It is not a matter of which is more important, but one to understand why some (caring) actions are taken for curing.

ER doc here! This is a lie. Wait times are up because the American healthcare system is an unsustainable business model and a for-profit national healthcare system just doesn’t work. These problems will continue to get worse until we change that system. It literally has nothing to do with immigrants

What can we, as language scientists, be doing right now to combat the hateful (and incorrect) language ideology that the US government is pushing?

Especially as a sociolinguist, I feel a duty/calling to spread the word and combat linguistic prejudice, but I'm not sure practically how to do so 🗣💬

It’s now on my list for readings to do after I’m done with my MA Thesis 👌 📖. Coming from the queer studies, I find fascinating how some terms go through amelioration and pejoration… and this word, a big part of pop culture, is so nuanced and rich.
