Well, the saga continues... the new land owner way beyond me did have his trees marked by a lumber company for removal. He called them and they stated to him that they did NOT mark my three trees. Yeah right, I'm calling bullshit. That is just too coincidental. I removed the tags on my trees today.

Mystery solved. My new neighbor, whom I don't know, hired a lumber company to log his property that previously belonged to a good friend. My trees were marked by mistake. He contacted me because I sent an email to other residents & one person put me in touch with him. 1/2

I only have gray squirrels here in South Central Indiana. I just don't bother to hunt them any more. Too small to mess with.

Also my broken fence was caused by a crew he hired & he offered to fix it.
So... now I have the new owners name & contact info. He is a part time resident, like the previous owner. 2/2

Back in Ohio, years ago I grew many root veggies... beets, turnips, carrots, parsnips, salsify, three types of potatoes and onions. Beets and turnips also provided greens and carrot tops were fed to my horses. I no longer can do this on my heavily wooded property.

My home is close enough to hear any logging equipment IF I'm home. I'll remove the numbered tags today & try to find out who may be having property logged. No one in 17 years has had trees logged, but new part time owners have purchased a home on a large amount land past me for $950,000.00.

A friend suggested they were tagged by loggers by mistake. I'll keep a close watch. Makes sense, since they were numbered 46, 47 and 48. I'll take a walk about today to see if other trees are marked.
