As we watch #Melissa in the coming week+, make sure you're getting reliable information.
Definitely go to www.nhc.noaa.gov, but also follow experts who don't get into the hype and can offer valuable insights. I have a starter pack of trusted "hurricane gurus" to help with this: go.bsky.app/88mXQKD
Our daughter has four friends over for a drop-off birthday party. We've made it beyond the first 90 minutes and have less than an hour to go - hopefully we all make it through without incident 😆
Following up on this with a little more detail. #OHwx
Friday morning lows around #Columbus... finally dropped into the 30s for the first time this season at CMH, tied for third-latest date for the first sub-40 reading. 34 was the official low. #OHwx

After a false start or two, fall has finally arrived in #Columbus. If it was looking for attention, it sure knew how to enter the room this weekend:

☀️ Saturday: Sunny, near-record high of 82.
🌧️ Sunday: Rain, wind, 60s falling into the 50s.

They say there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing...

... but my rain jacket is at my mom's house eight hours away, so I was stuck with a windbreaker, which is not ideal.
🌡️ Today's 82 in #Columbus is the second-warmest high on record for October 18, tied with 1963, 1910, and 1908.

🥇 Record high is 83 in 2016 and 1938.

Today was a reminder to myself that I can, in fact, get a sunburned forehead in the middle of October.

Hi stargazers! Tomorrow morning the waning crescent #moon will shine near the bright star #Regulus, the brightest star in Leo the Lion. On the next morning, October 18, a thinner crescent moon will float between Regulus and the eastern horizon. 🌘🌌🔭

This is part misleading and part false.

The false part - the West Pacific (where Halong originated from) is having a below average year so far across all metrics, especially for ACE & typhoon days.

The East Pacific is above average for number of storms/hurricanes & near average for ACE.

Since I hadn't played SimCity 4 in a while, tonight was a good night for putting on my mayoral hat.

Just remembered that "No Fear" clothing was a thing.

I hope our kid never asks about what the deal with that was, because I have NO idea.
While most places in and near #Columbus dipped below 40 this morning, the official observation at the airport was 41. With no sub-40 lows likely anytime soon, this year's first date below 40 will be among the later ones on record. #OHwx
Got cold enough at our house to get a little frost on the rooftops.
