Not goofy sitcoms but well-written life stories re. smart, nuanced, complex characters 50 & up.

No stereotypes. No bimbo trophy 2nd wives, midlife idiocy...

The focus on profit is a major theme of the first 3 seasons.

Honestly, I've never seen any show address the full moral/ethical ramifications as this one does. Esp. re cancer & people suffering unnecessarily.

You'll see more one dr is an actual psychopath! It's fascinating to watch unfold.

Karen, do you ever wonder what non-GSD people -- like, say, those with French pugs, Goldies, Maltese, or Chiweenies - think of our very, VERY different GSD world when reading stuff like this?

I ponder it often. I bet they think we sound like deranged fanatical cultists loving deadly toothy terrors.

German Shepherd dog in mid leap, straight up in the air, so that his face is parallel to the tall man standing opposite him in protective gear. The dog's mouth is wide open, as he barks inches away from the man's face, his rows of sharp fangs right near his forehead and mouth.

This looks scary but it is part of a highly trained protocol test in Schutzhund, the global competitive obedience sport for German shepherds. Schutzhund tests the solidity of the dog in multiple ways, especially in terms of control, discipline, and temperament. Passing it is a requirement in Germany for the dog to be certified for breeding.

Funny thing, Apollo is blowing out his coat again, so that big tuffs of white or grey hairs stick out in tempting clumps from the rest of his fur.

This is the "I will pluck you like a chicken in bygone medieval days" part of the GSD adventure.

They uniformly HATE it. Humans find it irresistible.

The diversity on #TheResident is great, to the point where almost ALLLLLL the most interesting characters or fun side characters are PoC or minorities.

The least interesting characters, imo, are the 2 white leads, Nic & Conrad, who also happen to be played by the least skilled, most 1-note actors.

The two most intriguing, nuanced, complex, & fascinating #TV characters I've encountered in recent yrs are both on #TheResident: gifted, Spock-ish Nigerian heart surgeon Mina Okafor & her world class mentor, AJ.

The writing + skilled acting by Shaunette Renee Wilson & Malcolm Jamal-Warner = MAGIC!

You have to engage in some very dishonest cherry-picking to look back at Trump’s foreign policy in the first term and declare it a success. Was his policy of backing the Saudis to the hilt in Yemen a success? No, it was an atrocity against the people of Yemen. Funny how that doesn’t come up.
