That sounds amazing - and to see them, you need to do the boat trip which also shows you the hippos, the gorillas, and the extremely loud sea lions who you can feed!

I absolutely adored Longleat. I was also thrilled to learn that, while some of their colobus monkeys came from French zoos and had chic names, two came from Belfast zoo: Wee Lad, and his younger brother, Wee Wee Lad.

Getting perilously close to crying (endeering?)
An extremely muddy hind is eating deer food (£1.50 a cup, v reasonable) out of my hand. She is eating it very politely, but when not eating, has the same impatient air as Sybil when she’s just arrived at the coffee shop and hasn’t yet had a biscuit. The deer might eat the food very gently this one also chewed on the seatbelt and the cardigan to hint very heavily that I was being too bloody slow and to get a wriggle on

Having a perfectly normal drive
A monkey - I thought it was a bonobo but then remembered I was thinking about mandrills with pink bottoms, and then realised I couldn’t identify a bonobo at gunpoint - sits quite comfortably on the bonnet of the car looking shrewdly at Claire’s monkey mascot

I’m visiting a friend in Wiltshire who has taken me to Longleat today. I was so insanely excited at the ticket office paying my ££££ becsue of all the lovely trees that the lady took pity on me and told me that they are feeding the giraffes for an hour at half ten. GIRAFFE FEEDING HERE I COME OMGGG!

No, we weren’t meant to believe Renee Zellwegger’s Bridget Jones was fat. One of the character’s main traits was that she believed she was fat due to the world she was living in. The book and film got this aspect right.
