Whoever coined the phrase "if you want something done give it to a busy person" is on my list

and as soon as I finish the other 200 things on it, they are in big TROUBLE

Collective agreement to use 'doomscrolling' instead of 'reading the news' was the most honest linguistic shift of our generation

Impressed that @busboysandpoets.bsky.social — my DC fave — is hosting phone banking with support and encouragement and free coffee to phone bankers.

Folks in DC might want to check it out. Thanks for setting a great example, B&P.

the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

One thing I notice is that people are just so angry? And most of the time not at anything useful. Just, like, because they had to wait in a short line, or someone’s baby cried once on a plane. The fuse overall is dangerously short, is what I’m saying

we should have never normalized filming strangers in public and posting them as content

Thank you, @nybooks.com, for sharing this much-needed quote today:

Excited to be speaking at @smartcityexpo.bsky.social in November, but one of the things that fascinates me most about 'smart cities' is just how much can be accomplished with low tech. Like this taxi sign. Light it up when someone needs a ride; simple & effective.

What other examples have you seen?

If people cross-post content from one platform to another, is it valid to simply copy and paste your comment on it from one post to another?

I mean, was there ever any other reason for social media to exist than for moments like this?

My genX heart is kvelling

Ok its ‘feed it off an aux, speak, grunt no strength, the ladder start to clatter with fear fight down height, wire in a fire representing seven games, a government for hire and a combat site’.

the level of "find out" that is coming for both some states and all of the U.S.A. is so much bigger than I've seen anyone, even the really pessimistic, forecast

Taylor doesn't do anything by accident, so I think we can take the fact that this happened on the day PSLs returned to Starbucks as super-savvy audience insight

One of the best convos @annamillsoer.bsky.social and I have had yet on the problematic concept of AI's so-called "hallucinations". Love that we got into how the "mirage" metaphor works better to evoke the complex feelings humans experience in using #AI. www.thetechhumanist.com/2025/08/21/t...

Florida really is Florida isn’t it?

A woman I met this morning asked when she learned I lived in NYC: “are you going to vote for that socialist?”

Ma’am. The president is doing a fascism, and you’re worried that the *potential* mayor in a city where you don’t live wants to make housing affordable?

The future isn't human vs. AI—it's "blended intelligence." But that only works if people trust the systems AND the leaders implementing them.

Command-and-control crumbles when work becomes knowledge-based and creativity-driven.
