#dailysketch Day 121
#art #illustration #frog

Finally found the time to make another one of these! This one was a reward for this month's Pictionary winner!
A digital sketch of a frog in clothing and a cape sitting in a forest clearing with an open notebook staring off into the distance with unfocused eyes. Beside them, a squirrel holding a chestnut looks at them with slight concern. In the background, a large moss covered creature looks in at the frog and squirrel with piercing eyes. Their motives are unclear.

I’m pretty sure she slept for the entire show!! I was 10 or 11 at the time. They used to come to Chastain nearly every summer/fall. It was my family’s Thing To Do Together for years!

When my little sister was 1, in 2000, my family snuck her into a Moodies show at Chastain Park in Atlanta, swaddled up in a big blue Ikea bag.

You were able to bring big cooler bags of food and such to picnic at the show, iirc. They just didn’t check for, uh… babies. 😂🤘🏻

This is such a gut punch!
The Moody Blues are one of my earliest loves. My 1st concert ever, at the Royal Albert Hall in ‘97-ish. I saw them regularly w/ my fam when they toured. I named the car I drove for 12yrs after the drummer, Graeme.

Their music is formative for me.
My heart is hurting!

Nooooooo!!!! 😭😭😭
My first concert in 1997 at the Royal Albert Hall was The Moodies! My family and I went to see them regularly when I was younger. I named my car Graeme that I drove for 12 years.
This is heartbreaking!

Lololol at this point I don’t think I’d have it any other way. If AUDHD were a city… 😂
Two stills from Beauty and the Beast show Beast’s reaction to Belle not coming down for dinner. At first he looks incredulous and then exasperated.

Dicked around and finally finished stitching this old @baileyillustration.bsky.social drawing!
White stitching on black fabric in an embroidery hoop shows an illustration, from Matt Bailey, of a penis with the phrase, “Fuck Censorship” written along it.

Wondering if any cartoonist friends can recommend a freelance editor? I have a very tired brain and maybe I'm just not remembering who exactly I know, but I'd appreciate any recs or reminders!

I finally used my tattoo pass from @sophiemcpike.bsky.social last week and got this gorgeous beauty on my calf and tested some of her glitter/stars as filler on my arm!

Tattoos done by Rob King at Chapterhouse in Baltimore!
A close-up of Kayleigh’s calf shows a fresh tattoo. It is a black ink illustration of a woman hugging her knee while sitting under a crescent moon. There are stars in her hair and on the back of her thigh. A close-up of Kayleigh’s forearm shows glittery stars in blue, purples, and pink filling in the gaps between tattoos. They have a mid-century modern aesthetic.

Catching up on my last book haul. I am so grateful for libraries!!
“Processing: 100 Comics That Got Me Through It” by Tara Booth is being held up in Kayleigh’s dining room. The cover features the inner mappings of the author’s mind as a cross-section of their head, revealing a conveyor belt of various items. “It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over” by Anne de Marcken features a neon yellow-green cover with the silhouette of a dead bird. “Second Shift” by Kit Anderson features two astronauts in a field on the cover. “Menopause: A Comic Treatment”, edited by MK Czerwiec, has a red cover with nine panels depicting several ailments and worries associated with menopause. The cover illustration is from Teva Harrison, and the book features work from several artists!!
