Literally the first news outlet I've seen directly quoting her wife. Even the NPR piece on Renee Good that aired this morning made no mention of Becca Good whatsoever.

It's good to use the resources at hand to fight because sometimes you win. Also, I keep thinking of the period after this man was killed and how a group of people tried to impose a new social reality. It didn't work. This too is a lesson.

“She was trying to turn around, and the ICE agent was in front of her car, and he pulled out a gun and put it right in — like, his midriff was on her bumper — and he reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times”

Absolutely horrific details about an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

A witness says a woman was trying to drive away from an ICE operation and the ICE agent "reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times."

Bovino was there.

I'm truly sorry to hear about this ICE killing. I want to remind people about what they did to Marimar Martinez in Chicago. She fortunately survived being shot multiple times. news.wttw.com/2025/11/20/f.... -

this is good advice. I use a time tracking app to time all the different parts of my process, just for myself to understand how long things take me. what I *think* I can do and what I can actually do often differ, AND my speed and energy changes over time, so its reallllly helpful to keep track of!
It is not my place as a writer to ever be like “this is my advice for an artist” but in line with this, I think one of the best thing anyone can do in tradpub is understand how long it takes you to do your job.
i spent my entire comics career thinking i was slow as mud for taking 2-3 years to finish each book, until my french editor called me "fast" and when i asked what he meant by that he said that on average french artists are taking 5-10 years to finish a book

Because then YOU get to use that to advocate for yourself and look at a timeline and say “that doesn’t work” and that is power!!!

I wish I'd thought sooner to explain to tradpub editors that illustrating a graphic novel is not like writing a prose novel or illustrating a picture book, a 250-page GN is actually like illustrating eight picture books.

"It's comics! How hard can it be?" Having edited both: significantly fucking harder than prose, and demanding of a much broader skill set that includes a lot of project management and contingency scheduling.

HEY PUBLISHERS: pay attention to this entire thread; and recognize that a HUGE part of the problem is assigning comics projects to editors with no comics knowledge or experience. Editing comics is a discrete discipline, and when you don't recognize that, you fuck both creators and yourself over.
I've had to explain that no, I cannot pencil and ink a 260-page GN in two months, do you even understand the words you're saying to me? I've been asked to design characters, pencil, ink, and color a 200-page GN myself in eight months (I said no).

read this thread, the entire thread, because my god we need people in this industry to learn what comics are and how they are made. every one of these posts rang true and hit home w my own experiences

Also, by the way, it's absolutely ridiculous that I'm the one that has to do the math on the labor and not the publisher. These are editors that don't have comic experience and they simply don't know what's involved... and also don't understand when I try to break it down.
