8 teens from our Emerging Teen Authors Camp are up for an award tonight at the CIPA Evvy Awards in anthologies. Graphic design whiz Victoria Wolf is a finalist in interior design. (Know a teen who wants to join camp next summer? Reach out.) #teenwriters #awardwinningbooks #teenauthors #booksky
Not actually bringing my kindle, so I'm afraid I'll have a dozen books in my suitcase....
If you are planning a trip, and want a funny, relaxing book like a warm hug, what would you read? I already have a stash of intense, wild and deep books in my TBR pile, as well as an Agatha Christie and books on writing and creativity. #amreading #booksky #amwriting #writercommunity

Apparently people who don't normally like zombie stories love my zombie stories. I've got a new one coming out in an anthology soon, and I'm getting enthusiastic feedback. I'll be curious what the zombie diehards think down the road....

What should I do to celebrate ten years of A Storm of Stories? Looking for ideas for an upcoming #bookbirthday. #amwriting #writingcommunity www.amazon.com/dp/0692660941
Whether it's you or a character, is there a time where they or you've pushed a comfort zone? Much of writing is embracing risk and the unknown. It's always a little wild letting other people into your head. If you aren't a little scared, you aren't doing it right... #amwriting #writingcommunity
Today's writing advice: When you are confronted with the dreamkillers, the ones who don't want you to write, who tell you not to do something, tell them this: "Ok, just watch me." Write it on a sticky note and attach it to your computer. #amwriting #writingworkshops #writingadvice #writingcommunity
So close to wrapping up a proofread and my own story revisions for an upcoming project but I have a mild migraine so it's going to have to wait. Weirdly enough, the best thing I can do is get away from screens and do gentle exercise. Will I actually do it? #amnotwriting #writingcommunity
AI is supposed to make things faster but maybe it leads to second guessing and a lack of confidence, for writers? Some folks think it can write better than they can, and instead of working on their craft and trusting their human voice, they trust AI more than themselves. #amwriting #writingcommunity
Hey writers, what do you do after writing about trauma? Today I wrote about a difficult topic. I always advise clients to take some time for self-care after writing like this. Take a bath, go for a walk, talk to a friend, reach out to your therapist, etc. #amwriting #writingcommunity
Sometimes I write oddly political #poems about rage gardening. #amwriting #booksky "I deadhead the pink peonies... Blast away the seeds from the honey locust tree and the ant hills on the pavers with my leaf blower. My landscaping will be perfect. This one little piece of America will be perfect."

Is there anything in June still? This can't be soon enough.
I hear you. And we need art right now. Your art matters. Art is part of how we stay strong. It's part of how we make it through, process, learn, remember and make sense of things. I don't know how we get through any of this without art. Without art, we break. It's how we survive. And I hear you.
A writer at a loss for words and a former journalist who won't turn away from the news, I have turned to rage gardening. Pulling weeds and donating to the ACLU. There's a metaphor in there somewhere, and I suppose, worse coping mechanisms. #amnotwriting
So FB has suspended my account, giving me 180 days to appeal. Anyone else had this happen? What did you do? Would my life be better without it anyway? It was nice having an account as an author. #writingcommunity
Do you ever write something completely out of control? Like this will be a cute, little humorous story about a giant, and it gets really weird and dark halfway through? I feel like I have no control over my own stories sometimes. It's like dreaming on paper. #amwriting #writingweird
Ever finish a book and feel a profound sadness that it’s done because it was so good? What book? #booksky #writingcommunity just finished Good Dirt and loved the chorus of history. There was a wonderful historic scaffolding in the storytelling. I will miss the characters.
Plan a book? I trick myself into writing books. Pantser here. I like to find out what happens as I write, do the occasional character interview if stuck. Once I’ve got a draft I revise the heck out of it. But planning? Nah. Vague ideas and lots of walks if I need to untangle a character or plot.
Long story short: Had surgery recently to fix my nose after an accident. Not because I looked like I got in a bar fight. The idea was to be able to breathe through it. Yes, it hurt but now I can breathe with my mouth closed! I am bruised and swollen but I can smell things. Basil. Wow. #grateful
One day, once they allow AI works to be copyrighted, will someone using AI copyright every combination of words or chords? Will we have to pay them to create a song, story or poem? Someone should pay me to write this Black Mirror episode. #storyidea #amnotwritingyet the joys of having an imagination
I don’t think Blue Sky has died and I am not a zombie. Just write about them a lot lately. Lol
Forgot to mention it's free til May 19.
