Worst part is it's not even the entire company from what I've seen. It's just this one individual at this pointed purple company. The majority of people are actually fair and friendly.

It's definitely unfortunate. I know things are getting better in general for this stuff but yeah..... I could at least tolerate it if there was something constructive that came from it....

Let's start our own company 😂

I also will never be ashamed of the school I went to. I was at a program with a PI that was right for me. He was an incredible mentor and I was incredibly successful under his mentorship.

I'll keep learning and growing, but I will never regret my decision to do my PhD at Auburn.

(for the record this isn't my current boss that guy is great)

The elitist quiet part is normally kept quiet so it was refreshing to hear the honest truth out loud.

I should be more angry but I'm just disappointed in that person. Not even disappointed in myself.

Hiring manager: there were a lot of applicants from top tier schools

Me: ok I can't change my school, so what can I actively work on to improve?

Hiring manager: 🤷‍♂️

What an incredible interaction to be frank. Especially as I've continuously succeeded in my current role inside & out of the lab.

Still can't believe I got multiple interviews deep in the process for a position only to then be told "you're a fantastic candidate but we can't move on due to concerns over rapidly changing immigration policies".

Random KC Lore: At 17 I was the Class Leader/Officer for warlocks in one of the top guilds in the US in World of Warcraft.

I scheduled/ran interviews with recruits for our 4x weekly 4 hr raids involving member meetings and raid performance tests. They were legit job interviews.
