My femme Miqo'te main in XIV.

She has vibrant dark red hair with black highlights, purple eyes, long droopy ears, paler skin, and a VERY fluffy tail!

She's dressed in a frilly blue dancers outfit and a pair of blue and gold high heels. She also has her signature rectangular glasses on.

Her expression is meant to show confidence, but she's awkward.

And then there's RL me who is also very awkward.

Shorter red hair with grays, blue eyes, and skin so white you'd be right to mistake me for a tub of mayonnaise.

I tried to smile, but I am awkward so...

Sorry to go full Boomer or whatever, it's just disheartening to poke my head out of my gaming bubble and be reminded of the hellish gaming landscape we're in now.

And rampant, global greed is only going to make shit worse in the long run.

Get a new game?

Unlock new characters/outfits/etc by, ya know, playing through the game - not by swiping your card for more $$$.

Or just being able to easily try out new games because they weren't huge finacial commitments nor were the consoles they were played on.

I miss games being complete products that were polished on release.

I miss being able to just play something on release, no account setup required. No patching required. No internet required!

They just WORKED & were whole products.

And don't even get me started on micro transactions, Day 1 DLC (or DLC in general), or paywalls.

The reason gaming was able to become a powerhouse industry is because none of the above things existed while it was getting its footing.

All of this should be a no-brainer...

And yet more and more companies weaponize optimization to try & prevent ppl from uninstalling.

Console/platform exclusives should have gone the way of the dodo by now, and yet...

Why QA when modders will fix it or the players can be your free testers?

It's so wild to me how many money hungry game companies seem allergic to doing things that would actually, ya know, make them money.

Make games available on ALL platforms & at easily affordable prices.

Optimize them to run well & not take up a ton of space.

Actually use QA teams to find/fix bugs.

She started off as an idea from a silly song then as I was making her she grew to be so much more and now I've been tempered by her!

I do not control the brainworms, I can but hold on as they take me on an adventure. 🤣

Their ads are psychological warfare, & I will die on this hill.

Any time I tried using Spotify it was the same 2-3 ads every single time & they were always 3x louder than my music.

I don't care how obnoxious the ads are, I'm not giving 'em $10/month or more to avoid them.

I'll just use Pandora.
